Jan.27-31, Contracted for Kitchen Cabinet Painting in home. Contractor background, reviews, licenses and insurance was reviewed. Everything seemed okay. The owner/Salesperson discussed the job, price and signed the Contract for $4250, I paid $2900 on a graduated payments schedule. They agreed to prep by cleaning, filling holes and sanding. He stated they would sand before and after painting primer, and the first coat of paint. They .asked everything and sprayed primer and painted with NO Prep. The paint had orange peel and clumps. Areas that should have been painted were not. And, areas that should not be painted were with overspray. The paint they used was a cheaper grade than promised and it did not dry for approx. 3 weeks. It is still sticky. He had an inexperienced person spray the paint and the guy was not Supervised except a few minutes each day. They left our kitchen covered with masked areas, paint all over surfaces; my dishwasher, my kitchen floor, and molding in areas was covered with overspray paint. After spending 7-8 hours cleaning the kitchen, firing the painter and eventually the Owner for their crappy job; I requested $1200 back of the $2900 paid. He won't respond. I am an older woman in my late 70s with health issues and on a limited income. I am now the one who is left to correct all the damage left behind by this bozo, uncaring, and unscrupulous person. Can you help me at all? Those 7-8 hours I spent cleaning up after these people was very hard on me, and I have been left to do the painting myself; which is VERY difficult. I am having difficulty attaching photos. All information is accurate. I do not TRUST this company to come back. They are not trustworthy or honorable at all.

    Business Response

This is a response to the complaint brought forward by *** Forest. We were contracted by her to refinish her kitchen cabinets. We started by sanding, degreasing and masking her kitchen. She then brought to my attention that there were some concerns she had such as the cleaning of the cabinets. I then proceeded to clean areas that she pointed out it was documented by video recording. She then had a concern about the quality of paint we used a Urethane Alkyd which is a high quality product. The next concern was the finish on the cabinets at this point we still needed to light sand the cabinets and apply our final finishing coat then unmask the kitchen, reinstall the doors and final clean up of any overspray and debris. The problem was that Mrs. Forest decided to cancel our contract and not allow us to fulfill our duties. She claims that we left the her house a mess for her to clean up but that was not the case. She kicked us out and did not allow us to finish our job.

I am rejecting this response because: ****** response is riddled with misinformation, lies, deceit and lacking personal responsibility. I do not cancel contracts or refuse future services from a company unless they "demonstrate" they are not able or willing to do the job in a professional manner. There was nothing professional about ****** workmanship. In fact, **** was not present at this location except for a few minutes in the afternoons "after" his inexperienced employee, using defective equipment masked and sprayed our cabinets. There was "no" supervision of his employee at all. Had he been here, he would have seen that his novice painter (possibly a sub) did "not" prep anything. He did not fill holes, he did not sand well, he did not sand after priming or painting the first coat of primer and paint as promised. That is why that was mentioned to him and his employee. Also, **** stated to my husband that he was working with faulty equipment which would partially explain the orange peel, and clumps of paint, and poor finish on the cabinets and the doors. **** has shown himself to say one thing and to do something completely different, and then NOT take responsibility for the mess made. A good example of misinformation or lies is he stated he used a good grade of paint. He DID NOT use the type of grade of paint he verbally promised. And, the paint was sticky for 3-4 weeks after be sprayed. Nothing could be done to, or with the cabinets during that period; I did not just cancel him or the cleanup. **** and his worker left our house in a state of ruin over the weekend and into the next week without one word about clean up. I kept telling him the paint was not drying and the cabinets would need to be stripped, cleaned, sanded and repainted and he wasn't scheduling anyone to come in, and the mess was too much for anyone to live with so my husband and I were forced to clean it ourselves. I am well into my 70s, my husband is also, we both have health issues with our hearts, and yet we were forced to clean ****** mess for over 7.50 hours. There is no excuse for his lousy workmanship, his lousy self focused attitude. He has no remorse for coming in and creating damaged cabinets or leaving a mess for us to clean up. There is nothing ethical or true about anything he wrote except; Yes, I fired him and his bad employee after they messed up my kitchen cabinets and my kitchen. I complained on another site also, and his response was, reach out. I did but he didn't. He came into my home and made the cabinets and kitchen a mess with orange peel, clumps of paint, I sanded surfaces, filled holes, and paint and clean up we DID Not agree to but were forced to do and his response is arrogance and denial. He needs to grow up, man up and take responsibility for his and his employees s**** **** He wasn't; that's why he was fired. He owes me money for his grand failing!

    Sincerely,

    *** Forest
