      My stuff has been damaged by rat infestation! It is unsanitary to continue to use the property that is inside of the storage unit because when rats p*** they pee as well! The company has failed to do anything about it and are negligent in failing to provide notice that their storage units are riddled with huge rat traps and the possibility of rats being inside of the storage unit! They should have to pay for all of my property that is inside, cause I shouldnt have to worry about removing my stuff to another storage unit when it should have been pest free and clean!

      I'm not one to leave pour reviews, but enough is enough. If I could rate them 0 star I would. Same as others review, pour business practice. I've had unit for over a year. It was an emergency as I became primary caregiver for my 84yr grandmother with dementia. Every other month the raise your prices without notice. They have no actual policy.As mentioned in other reviews, when calling for an explanation there answer is " because they can"There is definitely an ethical problem in which this company base therir operations and raises legality concerns.I would STAY AWAY from companies who are not transparent with consumers. Be aware of this storage unit and its faulty business practice to ***** on consumers in need.

      Had everything stolen. Someone unlocked or picked my locks and closed them back up. Stole over 10k worth of things including my motorcycle. The motorcycle was found months later in the possession of a meth head, proving it was stolen. They denied my claim, after 12 weeks of waiting for a response, to collect the $2000 insurance policy I was paying $11 a month for. I might as well have just stored my stuff on the street, then at least I would have the money I paid to this horrible company.

      This is the worst storage unit ever,I have been a customer since 2018 from ************************************************************ E358.I have been paying for almost 6 years now they have my email address but no one emailed us about the break in that they said happened last Oct.3 2023.They keep collecting payment from us knowing what is left from our storage unit is just trashed.They also allow people to sleep in their storage unit,we did complained about it coz we found food wrapper in our unit and even receipt from a gas station in our unit which is not from us coz we are from out of state.

      The ******* location illegally sold everything I owned, all my work equipment and everything I had left of my deceased boyfriends things, pictures, cloths etc. They never sent a notice. I can't even get a s District manager to call me back.

      The Manager *****, who sent my payment back to my bank and didn't give me any notice that she done that and for two months I been paying my storage bill and they never said nothing but thanks for your payment. Now my storage unit is in late and behind in payment because she said I don't have a storage there, located in ****** **, and I told her I do have a storage unit there. Now my unit is in lien status because of their mistake. ******************

      STAY FAR AWAY FROM SMARTSTOP!I've been using them for three years and they have been raising my rates every six months at insane percentages of 15, 16, 17, 24, 50 and 11 percent. I put up with it the first few time because it was only a few dollars, and I was lazy to move. But they pray on this. BE DILIGENT! I finally complained when they tried the 50% raise and they backed down. Only to raise it again six months later. Again, I complained.This time I got a phone call. All I got was a bunch of excuses. They blame in inflation, operating cost, and get this...the guy actually told me there is no law against it, so they can do what they please. The gall it takes to tell a loyal, paying customer with an immaculate unit this.I challenged him to tell me one place that has DOUBLED their rates in three years. I said my cell phone hasn't. Neither has my internet, nor rent, nor parking costs. The price of gas nor groceries has doubled. He actually told me inflation! I asked him where has inflation doubled, he blamed operation costs.I asked him (he never gave his name) why he was calling me with these company lines, and no real corrections. I challenged everyone of his assertions, and he had no answers. Pretty much told me they can do it because they can. It was infuriating.He told me he couldn't respond to my email. Why, I asked? No answer. But I know the answer...they refuse to put anything in writing. I told him this...more non-answers. And, of course, he hung up on me in the end.DO NOT RENT WITH SMARTSTOP!! Do your research and find an more honourable place. These people will spend gouging you of your hard earned money.

      My unit is at ********** and they have increased my rent last year to over 100! to their largest unit!Now I am getting another increase!!This is terrible business - they do not respect loyal customers who pay on time.DO NOT RENT HERE

      Unprofessional and rude. I ran late on my payment for the first time in three year. After multiple conversations on payments no one bothered to tell me they were putting a double lock on it. Drove 3 1/2 hours and a half a tank of gas to get some things and they just smiled and said it was double locked. REALLY? Spent about ****** dollars with them in 3 years!!

      This company doesnt have an escalation process. My storage was threatened to be auctioned off everytime im late. They increase their fees with no warning. Late payment charges added on. Refuse to set up payment arrangements. Someone needs to look into this
