I am writing to report a case of product misrepresentation and the subsequent uncooperative behavior of an **** seller. On May 29, 2024, I purchased a gold chain advertised as "14K Solid Gold ROPE Chain Necklace 20 (2.05mm)" from the seller All City Gold (All City Pawn Shop). The seller has a high rating on ****, which led me to trust the description and make the purchase. After wearing the chain for 2 months, it began to show serious signs of damage and eventual breakage during normal daily use. Concerned, I took the chain to a professional jeweler for examination, and it was confirmed that the chain is hollow, not solid gold as advertised. According to the *** guidelines, advertising a gold product as solid when it is hollow without proper disclosure is considered misleading (Note to paragraph (c)(1) of the "Guides for the Jewelry, Precious Metals, and Pewter Industries").I immediately contacted the seller to resolve the issue, but they were dismissive and uncooperative, even when informed that I would escalate the matter to the ***. I also escalated the issue twice through ****s resolution center, speaking with three different representatives. Unfortunately, **** was unable to assist as the issue was discovered outside their 30-day return policy, despite the clear misrepresentation.I have reported this issue to the ***, but I am seeking assistance from the BBB to hold the seller accountable for their deceptive practices and to warn other potential buyers. The sellers refusal to acknowledge the issue and ****s inability to provide support have left me with no other option. I am requesting that the BBB intervene to facilitate a resolution, which could include a refund or replacement, and ensure that the seller corrects their misleading product descriptions.Thank you for your assistance.
