Mobilecom is a hole in the wall electronic repair store in *********** that also sells cell phones and cellphone service plans. Back in around May 2024, a friend of mine and myself went into the store in hopes to get myself a new phone. When I was there I traded in the phone I had and paid $250 for a iPhone 11. The price on the sticker for the phone was $250 and I initially planned to take the unlocked phone I just paid for in full a couple doors down to Metro to have my service activated. The man who sold me the phone said since I traded in a phone and paid full price for the iPhone 11 he would give me 1 month free service if i went thru them & got simple mobile. I didnt sign any contract & simple mobile is a pre-paid service. Fast forward a few months Im trying to switch providers and Im being told the iPhone is carrier locked. When confronted about it the man deflects from the fact the phone is locked and just insists I add funds and stick to simple mobile. When I told him I didnt want to he told me to call simple mobile, who told me, the phone was never scanned properly and appears to not be paid off or sold at all. When I asked the man at ********* why he sold me a locked phone his response was Have a nice day. When I took to the internet to find out what options I could take to have my phone unlocked I learned, these people are buying stolen phones and selling them to people without telling them the phones are locked/stolen. So now I either have to continue to pay them for phone service I dont want, or I have to buy a whole new phone after paying for this one less then a year ago.
