September 28th I went to close my storage unit after a year and 2 months. I had my credit card on file and Long Beach storage unit deduct it every month. Our unite is on the 5th floor, we had 2 paddle boards and some heavy boxes and containers. I have bad knees and lower back pain. On September 28th staff informed my wife and I that the elevator is broken and should take a week to be fixed and he also took my card that I have auto pay so it doesnt get charged because of the elevator. I called for follow up 3 days later and they said another week than 3 weeks. After a month now they started texting me for payment, I called them and stuff said those are auto messages, it became like harassment like everyday. In October, I went in and spoke to a manager and I ask if they can help me get my things down and his response was that we are not a moving company I do have a medical condition that affects my back. I believe second week of October, I went in asked if elevator was completed and they said no. One nice stuff person helped carry some things down from 5 floor. There was a lock on when I went and he opened and after I was I asked I believe they had ************************************************** to pay how do you want handle it? I willing to pay half. He said, you are good, the elevator wasnt working and you have tried to get your stuff out in September but couldnt. I received a letter from a collector for 435 dollars which is not accurate. I didnt break into the storage, I got my things with their knowledge and now trying mess with my credit. This is unacceptable, I have tried calling for the manager and leave voicemail but no response. I hope you can help so this issue. Elevator is key component of their service and why should you get paid if you cannot fulfill the service you are providing? Also staff understand that but owner want to do the bare minimum and still collect.
