    On 4/14/23, I noticed that my car would not start due to a dead battery. I am a member of AAA *********************** of *******) and contacted their number for roadside assistance. They dispatched A Checkered Towing Company to help me. A person by the name of **** *************************** arrived approximately 30 minutes later, opened the hood, hooked up the cable, and gave the car a jump. Immediately the horn started blaring nonstop and he asked me if that had ever happened before. I told him no, that it had not. He attempted to start the car and it would not start. He then said he needed to contact Dispatch for guidance. After that call, he informed me that my car likely has a short and needs to be towed. He stated that since he does not know whats happening with the horn blaring, it could be dangerous to continue working on the car. He said that he had requested a tow truck and they should be there shortly.At approximately 6:30 PM, two hours later, a tow truck driver arrived and towed me to *********** for service. the mechanic reported that the car battery was jumped backwards causing damage to the electrical system. He did confirm that we needed a new battery, which they would replace. **** was able to complete the car repairs and we paid them and immediately filed a claim with AAA for the repairs, minus the cost of the battery, and for the cost of a rental car. The mechanic stated that the billing statement clearly indicates what the issue was, and stated this was AAA technician's error that caused the damages. He confirmed that had the car been properly jumped, we could have simply replaced the battery. This information was all shared with AAA and they worked with A Checkered Towing towards a resolution. On 5/10/23, I received an email from AAA stating, "Our investigation has concluded and A Checkered towing, **** has denied responsibility for the purported damage to your vehicle. Based on the results of the investigation we could not conclusively state damage occurred while your vehicle was being serviced by A checkered towing, **** We must be sure you are aware A Checkered towing, **** is an independent business under contract with the club to provide emergency road service. As an independent contractor A Checkered towing, **** is responsible for its own actions and those of its employees. We have attempted to provide a service to you by arbitrating the difference of opinion between you and A Checkered towing, ****"Therefore, I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about A Checkered Towing. Their technician caused damages to mmy car that they should be financially responsible for.
