I was excessively charged by California ****************** for a retrofit job conducted AND inspected by *** as a subcontractor. I was not initially told of this subs identity. This began on April 2nd, 24 upon down payment to ***, whose salesman said that work would begin on 4/5. Only three days of actual work had been completed, totaling 20 hours of completion to reach the stage for reinspection. I was again asked for further payment claiming I still had five support pods needing rework, although based on structure size, this was within the allowed limit. I balked and decided to check with the city inspectors office on April 9 verifying if a permit had been filed by ***. *********** found NO permit issued on my property. It was not until the salesman came back to me demanding another $10k that I knew something was not right after having already paid total of $16k. I went to the city office to again check on any permit, and was surprised to find the permit was issued to RM1, filed on 4/10/24, not to CDR. I argued with the *** salesmans false claim that the three non-English speaking men who did the work were his employees. He countered me by claiming *** has a board of five lawyers after which I threatened to call the state licensing board over questionable permit process & claiming workers were *** employees. We agreed on a balance, which brought the total paid to CDR of $20k. This prompted my initial complaint to BBB in early June. My conclusion is that *** does not have a true working staff of skilled employees, nor an actual physical office. CDR I have coined as a Theft Brokerage, whereby they appoint subs who I suspect split profit but never reveal the actual profit to their hard workers who DO the job! I see RM1 in this category. I thank the *************** of BBB for de-certifying Calif ******************, & hope you keep an eye on any such subs who shadow operate under CDR. To verify, this occurred in ************, **. DJO
