I had asked the company for an estimate to install 2 more cameras to my current security system. They gave me an estimate and I agreed on the price. They disconnected my system and them damaged the wall by drilling a hole on the left side of the 2x4 when the improper hole they drilled on my outside load bearing wall was on the other side of the 2x4. They were here for 3.5 hours and did not complete the job except to cause damage. The Residential building code states holes drilled must have 2" space above and 2" spaced below the drilled area on a load bearing wall. They drilled 1/4 to 1/2" on the bottom without the proper clearance. They did send over a construction person and he agreed I should be concerned and he would need to consult with an Architect. He stated this in front of their employee. Now I feel like they are stalling and trying to come up with fixes that are not to code. They are trying to say it is not a load bearing wall which is untrue.according to my contractor in SC and the person they sent over in addition to my own construction knowledge. An out side wall attached to a foundation is a load bearing wall. I will need to sell my home one day and the fix needs to meet the residential building code which they are not offering. My security system which previously was connected and worked is now in pieces and does not work which also needs to be resolved but there is not enough room to add this in the resolution line listed below..
