On June 2, 2025, our beloved ****** was killed during a routine dental cleaning procedure under supervision of Dr. ***** **** at Bay Cities Pet Hospital. ****** was a 7 year old Pomeranian and full of energy. He had this procedure done with no problems in the past. We brought him to the clinic a healthy dog, and we took our baby home in a body bag. He had no medical issues warranting an increased risk for anesthesia complications. My partner and I both provide anesthesia, and we just could not accept that our baby passed away because of adverse effects from anesthesia when he had general anesthesia with no problems twice in the past. We were told that ****** passed away shortly after being induced for general anesthesia, and they could not get a pulse oximeter (oxygen level) reading, causing his heart to eventually stop. The only explanation for this (as an anesthesia provider myself), is that the airway was not secured properly and the proper safety standards were not implemented. Furthermore, we were told that Dr. **** was not present to assess Casper until after ******* heart had stopped. A vet tech named **** was providing the anesthesia, and Dr. **** was not even aware Casper was decompensating until it was too late. This is absolutely unacceptable! We trusted her to keep our baby safe, and her carelessness and downright negligence contributed to the death of our sweet baby. Worst of all, when we went to pick up our babys dead body, there were virtually no signs of genuine remorse from the staff. They just had a healthy dog die unexpectedly under their care, and not one person even shed a single tear.I feel obligated to leave this review to warn pet owners that our beloved baby died at this facility. My partner and I wake up every night crying and wishing this would just be a nightmare. I do not know when this nightmare is going to end, but I wish no pet owner will ever have to endure this kind of devastation.
