On Dec. 23rd I purchased tickets to the ******* cirque du soleil show for Jan 20th with the ticket insurance through Allianz Global. The total cost of the tickets and insurance was $582.79. Then on Dec. 27th I started having strange symptoms. Motor ticks, non epileptic seizures, paralysis on my left side and slurred speech. I went to the emergency room at St. **** medical Center in ******** ** and was sent home with no answers. My symptoms progressively got worse over the next few days, so I went to ******* on Dec. 29th. I was again sent home without any answers and my symptoms proceeded to get worse. Then on Jan 3rd I decided to file my claim with Allianz because I was not improving and didn't know if I would be well enough by the 20th to view the show. It was then that Allianz informed me that my purchase for the tickets went through but not the insurance? WTF They were purchased together. They apologized and told me that if I paid for a new policy over the phone with them that day that they would be able to process my claim properly and get me my refund. I agreed and bought the policy. I then followed the steps they gave me to file the claim. The next day on Jan 4th I was finally able to see a neurologist and was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder. I learned that traveling to and being at an event like that would only trigger more seizures and paralysis. So I felt confident in my decision not to attend. Then on Jan 30th I received an email saying my claim had been denied because the policy was purchased after my first emergency room visit. I called the following day to see why they denied my claim, even though I did exactly what they told me to, and was reassured I would be reimbursed. They changed their story and said I was being denied because my reason wasn't covered under the policy. One of the first reasons listed that you can claim is in case of a medical emergency. I was told a supervisor would reach out asap. They haven't called.
