It is a complaint against the property management of The Parks at Monterey Bay, concerning the mishandling of my application for housing and the refusal to assist in resolving an issue related to my credit ********** husband and I are both victims of identity theft and, as a result, have extended fraud alerts placed on our credit reports. Additionally, our credit reports were frozen for protection but were temporarily unfrozen during our housing application process. Despite our efforts to comply with the application requirements, we were incorrectly rejected due to the reason stated as fraud alert".When I reached out to the property manager Desani to clarify this issue, she incorrectly claimed that our rejection was due to the freezing of our credit reports, even though I had provided documentation in the form of an email from The Parks stating the actual reason for the rejection was the fraud alert. Despite several attempts to engage in constructive communication and provide the necessary proof, the property manager continued to insist on the inaccurate reason for rejection and eventually stopped responding to my emails altogether. This situation is not only a clear violation of my rights as a victim of identity theft but also reflects poor customer service and a lack of professionalism. I am requesting that the Better Business Bureau assist in resolving this matter and ensure that The Parks properly addresses the issue with my housing application.I would appreciate your assistance in holding the property management accountable for their failure to resolve the issue and their lack of response.Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.Sincerely,******** ********

When I moved into the Parks of Monterey Bay housing--an off-post, private housing area--I was amazed. The rent was nearly three thousand dollars a month for older housing that had multiple issues. The oven was dirty and smoked every time I used it and the dishwasher needed to be fixed multiple times. Additionally, their faulty hook up available for the washer and dryer caused leaking, which warped the floorboard. Upon getting orders for separation (August 23, 2023), I immediately notified the managing office with my orders. I had to move out within 3 weeks. I assigned a POA who returned the keys and saw the final inspection, as I needed to sign my new lease with an apartment out of state in person. I was given the itemized list of charges past the 21 day rule in **********. Additionally, the charges included a $600 painting charge for minor scuffs. Based on multiple pictures I could see that furniture left fuzz/marks on the wall that can easily be cleaned off. Moreover, I was charged fees for things that fall under California Civil Code 1950.5(b) for expected habitant use when it comes to living in a residence for over a year. I was also charged for the issues with the warped floorboard. I tried repeatedly to bring up the issues with the manager, *****, who would not listen to this issue. He stated that the charges will stand and that if they are not paid they will be sent to collections. These charges total $4,996.63, which is a very high charge. Part of the reason it is so high is because my Basic Housing through the Army has still not been paid to me. I notified ***** that I have not received my back-pay BAH to help pay for the charges, to which he offered a payment plan, but still refused to clear the fraudulent charges. I can't afford an attorney, I have not been paid, and I am still unemployed and they are not backing down from the full payment request otherwise it will go to collections. The office never answers the phone, which I have called 4 times.
