I signed an author acceptance form with Bottlecap Press (BCP) and agreed to their terms and conditions document on September 26, 2023. My chapbook was published on October 24, 2024. *** requires that authors earn at least $20 in royalties before authors are paid. I met ***'s minimum royalty payout of $20 on October 25, ******* is November 26, 2024 today, and I have not received any of the money BCP owes me. As of November 26, 2024, I am owed $124.14. I have tried to contact *** multiple times about being paid (forms of contact being through email, Instagram DM, and their website help desk form). I have been assured a few times that I will be paid soon. I have not been paid.Considering that *** continues to sign on and promote new authors, one would think they take exceptional care of the authors they already work with. This has not been my experience. Bottlecap Press is not holding up their end of the contract that I agreed to. I deserve to be paid the royalties I was promised when signing on with them.

I wrote a poetry chapbook and distributed it with Bottlecap press starting April 2022. They've always taken a long time to send out shipments but they never ignored me for long periods of time. This past June 2024 I ordered a shipment of 20 copies of my chapbook. I didn't get a shipment notification till July 2024. It is now August 15, 2024... I still don't have my books. I filed a dispute with my bank to get my money back for the books. I had an author discount so it wasn't a lot of money but they're still distributing my work under a contract that is not notarized. I think at this point they should give me my rights to distribute the poetry with or without their name attached. But to be fair, I probably can already do that cause again, its not notarized!

Bottlecap Press is a small publisher of poetry books. I was excited to sign on with them in the end of 2023. *************************, the owner, puts his books together with the author via email and then sells them via his website. ***** was highly communicative while we worked on the book before Christmas and within days, it was available online! He encouraged me to share the news and gave me information on how to get my own author copies at a deep discount, so I could have a stock of them for readings, my own sales and to be able to hold my own book in my hands. This is where the problems began. After specifically saying (screenshotted below), "Reach out if you need anything, I'm always around", ***** disappeared completely. He did not answer emails, there was no news on the tracking number. I finally got ******* attention via an Instagram comment on a post about another author ... He continues to publish and publicize relentlessly without taking care of the authors he's already published. My shipment of 60 books arrived a month after I ordered them and I had to cancel the event I had planned to celebrate, share and sell my work. It was deeply upsetting. Finally the books arrived and I was able to properly launch. From there, ***** really disappeared. When my stock of my books ran out, I made another order of 20 books with a VALID discount code that would get me 10 extra books, so 30 in total. When the 10 extra books were left off the order, I wrote ***** (he had since turned off his Instagram comments) and an assistant (********, before her name was *****) sincerely apologized and told me the books were on the way. That was two months ago & I've received nothing. My work is being held hostage and I need my books. I want my 10 copies, plus as many more as ***** can send ... Ideally 100 and then I'd like to terminate my agreement. Many Bottlecap writers have posted on Reddit about this same issue, lack of payment (i'm currently owed $12.52) and communication. This is not OK!

Last year my poetry Chapbook 'Viva, by Definition' was published by Bottlecap Press. On June 30, 2023 I acquired 100 author copies of my book for the price of $360,55. *************************, the person who runs the press, told me via Instagram DM on November 17th (FOUR MONTHS AFTER MY PURCHASE) that the books had been shipped and that I should expect them in one or two weeks. It is February 5 and I still haven't received them. I reached out to him via e-mail and on Instagram on December 11th, then again on Instagram on December 28 and January 14 asking for a shipping number I could track or for ANY information at all but he simply never got back to me. I have been consistently reaching out to ************************* via his personal Instagram account and email as well as Bottlecap's but I have not gotten a single response. I literally have NO INFORMATION about my copies of the poetry book I wrote about my DEAD GRANDMOTHER. On top of that, I still haven't received my royalties for the sale of the books ($40). This is by far the most disrespectful and unorganized experience with publishing that I have EVER had. It has now been over SEVEN MONTHS since I purchased my books and I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED THEM NOR DO I KNOW WHEN TO EXPECT THEM.

I purchased a book from Bottlecap Press in May 2023 and have never received it nor received any communication about its shipment. I have sent multiple emails to both the business email and the owners email listed through PayPal as well as messages through social media channels since June with no response. I filed a complaint with PayPal but because the transaction is over 6 months old, they didnt do anything. I also know I am not the only person who has not received the products they paid for from them.
