Have used s/w program >10 years. Past 3 years, it's been installed on 2 computers in the same office where I am sole proprietor and have 1 employee whom I hired at the beginning of said 3 year period. We've never had issues switching between computers during this 36 month period. Same clients are on both computers, as I'm training my employee to take on more payroll. Less than a week ago, the s/w began locking us out, saying it was used on another device. Emailed the company 3-4 times asking it to be unlocked, they complied. Happened again today and had to go back and forth between emails bc they do not take phone calls, so customer service is poor to say the least. On my computer, box popped up and asked if I need to change the *** I clicked no and continued to do so until I was able to get into the data folder. Asked my employee to email re: this seemingly sudden policy change, if we needed to be issued a separate ID for her computer w/ both IDs operating under the same license. After many emails asking for clarification if this meant we had to purchase another license for the other computer, instead of a simple ID to combine both computers under 1 license, was finally told yes, another license must be purchased, though I just renewed the program for 2025 at the beginning of January. I will not pay twice for the same program for our same tiny company with the same clients on both computers. Never had a s/w program that wouldn't allow installation on multiple computers (2-5).Emails became heated after questioning policy change, was implied we "got caught" and it wasn't their problem.Firstly, I never had issue in 3 years and am not a thief of any sort.Secondly, they waited until a week before W2 deadline to start this nonsense.Lastly, we're both locked out and cannot submit 2024 W2s in time for SSA deadline because they are ignoring our emails. Severe penalties may ensue which may case litigation later. At very least, want 2024 & 2025 program costs refunded.

The customer is correct in they were violating our license terms and were caught. We are being more automated in catching license violations. We have never offered multi computer licenses, and we display our license terms on every installation and update. Just as the person had to pay for their second computer, including a fee for the second installation and use of the operating system, we require payment for each installation of our software.

Unfortunately, this person did not bother to read the license terms or ignored them. Based on their message, we will issue a refund so they can see if they can find something with a reasonably priced multi install license.

Got upset because I was completely blocked from finishing up my year end payroll for a business. Emailed customer service. Yes, I was rude and upset and included the word "bullshit" in my email because this isn't the first incident I have had with them. The first incident I was basically called stupid as were others trying to figure out changes that were made to their payroll software. A few days ago I sent payment for renewal of the payroll software. Again, they have made changes to their software. I could not add December payroll nor could I print it out. After contacting Medlin I was told that I was wrong and lying. This really upset me. I have been with this company for many years and it's always been difficult dealing with their customer service. And of course, they won't give you a name when emailing them. After many emails and accusations against me they conveniently gave me a 7 day period to do what I needed to do. No apologies, nothing. How is it right that I paid annually for their product and am not permitted to use it????? And now they change their software and lock people out of their program that they purchased? Add to my horror that I receive an email from Medling stating that I was rude and lying and swearing (again, only word used was "bullshit." they decided to refund my renewal. This is beyond cruel. End of year reports and W-2's are due, not to mention payroll and I'm left with no software. It's beyond disgusting and like I said before I have contacted them and was more than courteous while they were very demeaning.

The customer attempted to use their license BEYOND the time it expired, which was clearly stated.  We extended their license for 30 days, for goodwill, and honored their request for a refund, since th person resorted to vulgar mesages, inaccurate messaged and likely inaccurate online reviews (including this complaint).

I am rejecting this response because:  Their statement that they made of me trying to use the program after my license expired is true. But in my defense I was still only using 2022 software. I paid for 2022 and should be able to go into the program and do what needs to be done. I never had a problem with any other years with this.

And not knowing what to do to try to finish 2022 I renewed my license.  They stated I asked for a refund. I did not. They decided that for me. Its all in the emails I sent you. And they also stated they gave me an additional 30 days. When 7 days equals 30 days let me know please.
