5 starsI'd highly recommend ohm connect. I personally have earned enough points to cash out hundreds of dollars on ohm connect. Not to mention all the money I saved by reducing usage during the peak hrs. And I've been rewarded a ****** home speaker and 3 smart plugs, completely free of charge, free shipping too! It's all 100% free. I don't understand how their star rating is so low. I've been using ohm connect for years now and have had nothing but positive results. My only complaint is that I wish they had an app instead of just the website.Review fromdrue s

1 starSo, they've been giving 15 minute notices for a 3 hour event lately. Then advise you to plan better for upcoming events. Seems they are ensuring that most people will get pretty negative results. So there go your credits. So much less for them to have to reward you with. Who benefits here? Of course, energy saving is good, but they don't have much savings to show. I rate them mostly SCAM.OhmConnect, Inc.

Hi there, ****,Thank you for reaching out to the Better Business Bureau. We appreciate the opportunity to assist with your Event Notifications, as we understand the importance of being properly notified for your energy-saving events. Weve taken a look at your Event Notification settings and found that your Day Ahead Notice notification was not selected. As such, we have selected this notification type. You will now receive notice of an event to your email address a day in advance, in addition to the "Event Start" notification. You can edit your notifications through your Event Notifications page, linked below: **************************************************** Additionally, we went ahead and forgave your three-hour events on March 24 and March 31. These events will no longer negatively impact your Status, Streak, or Total *****. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to our team directly at *************************************************************** OhmConnectReview fromSusan D

1 starMy review is exactly like ****** *. I shut down my computer, turned off my printer, unplugged everything. I didn't earn any credit for a 3 hour event. I suffered in the heat without my air conditioner to try to earn ***** because I am very **********. I thought these events were for the time stated yet when I look at my account it says I didn't save any energy over the past 10 days. What's with that? I think I will check out another program. This isn't the first time this has happened. I'm very disappointed.OhmConnect, Inc.

Hi *****, Oh no, that doesnt sound like the experience OhmConnect is working so hard to build! Thank you for leaving this review so that our team can provide clarity and support you further with your energy-saving goals. To start, we can understand how it would be frustrating to not see your efforts reflected in your event results! To be fully transparent, we are at the mercy of your utility company to receive your energy usage data. If you believe your utility has delivered incorrect data, could you check on your utility site to see if you have the correct consumption during that time period? You will need to look at the energy usage data for just the time period of the OhmHour. And you can do that through a service called ******************** I've linked the instructions below:*********************************************************************** If you find that our data differs from your utility data, please let us know by contacting our team at ***************************** with the *** download of your data. Additionally, utilities sometimes send us "estimated" data on occasion. Do keep in mind, your utility will likely send us updated data that matches your utilities correct data within 3-5 business days, at which time your OhmHour ***** will be automatically recalculated.Regarding where the power may be coming from, there are numerous devices in your living space that are using energy, even when plugged in and turned off. As such, we recommend adding smart plugs! For every smart device you have connected and participating in an energy-saving event, you can earn Bonus Device ***** on top of your Potential ***** earnings. This can also help you reduce your energy further, as you can connect your homes major energy hogs to smart plugs.Again, please dont hesitate to reach out to our team at *****************************. Were here for you and happy to help further. Best,OhmConnectReview fromDebbie s

Hi ****,Thank you for submitting this review to the Better Business Bureau. We can assure you that OhmConnect is not a scam. We appreciate the opportunity to share more about how OhmConnect ******** start, OhmConnect is a Demand Response program, we respond when the energy grid providers predict that the grid will be stressed! ?Most of the time, the energy market accurately predicts how much energy will be needed in a given region. But sometimes, people use more energy than forecasted, which means the grid will turn on a fast-acting power plant to balance the system. Thats where OhmConnect steps in!The energy grid providers will let us know their time of need and we dispatch our members to use less energy and prevent further stress and the use of fast-acting power plants that are bad for the environment. We will send you a notification when the energy grid providers reach out to us!Your goal during your ******* events will be to use less ***** than you usually use, what we call your Potential *****! Typically how our Potential ***** work is that we calculate using the historical data provided via your smart meter.Lets say you receive an OhmHour from 6 - 7PM on a Wednesday. Your Potential ***** will be calculated by averaging your energy use from 6 - 7PM during the previous 10 weekdays. If an OhmHour occurs on the weekend, your Potential ***** will be an average of your use by looking at the previous 4 weekend days. We skip any previous OhmHours you participated in during those days.We find a 10-day average to be the fairest way to gauge energy reduction with all the various factors that affect energy usage from recent weather trends to new devices in the ************* will earn ***** for each of your events, which you can spend in the Rewards Marketplace to redeem for gift cards, prize entries, devices, and even cash!Further, the reason we have negative ***** is because we share the responsibility with our customers to provide the energy reduction that we have promised to the energy grid operators for each OhmHour. If we do not follow through with the amount of energy reduction we agreed to, then we are penalized accordingly. So, we pass on the implications of not saving energy to customers who don't reduce energy during an event, similar to how we pass on the benefits for saving energy. If you'd like to learn more about this aspect of our program, we've put together a review for you here??.With that, the choice to participate in OhmConnect is really based on your preference because you know your home the best. There are quite a few energy-savings programs, including OhmConnect, and it will be up to you to decide which one is right for you based on your needs and goals. I can, however, speak to the fact that OhmConnect is a year round program, so there are numerous opportunities to save throughout the year! Of course we'd be happy if you choose OhmConnect, and we understand our program isn't right for everyone. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to reach out to our team at ***************************************************************,OhmConnectReview fromMichael M

1 starOhmConnect used to be an okay service that would get you some $$$ once in a while for reducing energy usage, but would also pull lots of dirty tricks -- like offering $50 sign-up bonuses, then not actually providing them (i.e. theyd wait until the day after the bonus period runs out to actually process the paperwork). Lately, though, its gotten much worse. For starters, the gift cards they offer cost a hilariously astronomical number of points -- meaning all you can really do is use your points to buy raffle tickets, competing against potentially millions of other users for a small prize (for example, spending about $18 in points for a one-in-millions chance to win $500). Youd have better luck in *****. Meanwhile, if you dont use up your points, you lose them, guaranteed no matter how little energy you use because eventually, youre competing against YOURSELF and your already reduced energy usage, so simply switching on a light or one of your kids forgetting and switching on a TV for ten minutes will erase literally MONTHS of point-savings. (A while back, I lost 3 months' worth of points because my girlfriend microwaved something for, like, twenty seconds.)Obviously, OhmConnect realizes what theyre doing so yeah, in my book, theyre scammers. Just look at their responses below and ask yourself if theyre genuinely responding to detailed, well-documented concerns, or just trying to put out fires.OhmConnect, Inc.

Hi there,Thank you for reaching out to the Better Business Bureau. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns regarding our ********** start, we'd love to share a bit more about how our sign-up promotions work. With these promotions, our system automatically rewards members with their sign-up incentives once their utility is connected and the enrollment process has been finalized. Since enrollment can take a couple of weeks to complete, there are instances where the promotional time period expires if a new member does not connect their utility within the allotted timeframe. However, if you write into our help channels to let us know about the situation, our team is happy to manually assist you with receiving the sign-up bonusas long as youre fully enrolled and otherwise qualify, aside from the expired ************ for the gift cards, the price of all rewards depends on a couple of factors: one being the market value, which causes slight fluctuations in reward costs, and the other being a members status. A members status within our program plays a significant rolethose who achieve higher status, earned through consistent participation in energy-saving events, receive substantial discounts on all Marketplace items, including gift cards. With regards to how ***** are awarded and how energy savings are calculated, Id love to explain this a bit more. We calculate your percentage reduction based on how much energy you save during your OhmHour, in comparison to your 10-day average. This individualized approach ensures a fairer experience, as it accounts for your unique household habits and circumstancesrather than comparing you to other homes with different energy needs. It also gives you full control to focus on improving your own usage over time.If youre ever unable to participate in an event, you can always use our Opt Out feature. And if you happen to miss an event or have accidental usage, as you mentioned, youre welcome to reach out to our help channelsour team is more than happy to retroactively forgive the event or opt you out. If you ever have questions about your energy data or calculations, our team is also happy to take a look and clarify anything for you.If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to our team directly at ***************************************************************, OhmConnectReview fromMery S

1 starI currently have their service as of May 2024 and will be dropping them this May ****. First off, I signed up for the half off nights because I'm a night owl so it works well for me. When we first signed up, I added my Nest Thermostat thinking it was just for them to see what and when we were using it. I started to notice during their so called 'Ohm Hours' (always during the hottest part of the day or at night - which I'll get to) that my thermostat being a learning one, would always come on during those hours. After about the first 4 times or so I started to see the pattern. Because I was using more energy at night, they can't let you get away with that. So what do they do? And yes, what I'm about to say next was something a supervisor actually told me.
First I'll start by saying I kept deleting and clearing the thermostat weekly calendar both from the Nest App and Google Home App. But they kept reappearing.
So, I contacted Ohm and had some questions for them because my schedules I deleted kept appearing and my AC (at the time it was summer), kept coming back on even though I turned the temp too high for it to be on + the schedule had been deleted, then got added again without me knowing. The emails went back and forth, even a couple calls. I accused them of manipulating my device. I was assured no, no no we do no such thing. A supervisor told me, no, we do not do ANYTHING to manipulate your devices. All we do is turn the device on or off!!!!!!!!!!!!! Turning my thermostat or setting it at a temp to trigger the ac to come on is the VERY DEFINITION OF MANIPULATING MY DEVICE.
I disconnected the thermostat right after that. Next thing, and this is their Ohm Hours. Ironically they happen in the heat of the day. Or the latest one, which was today 1/22/25 from 7 am - 8 am, being literally freezing outside. Is a complete crock of you know what. So now I lost points for rewards bc my family needs to stay warm. Thus making it impossible to even try and participate. SCAM.OhmConnect, Inc.

Good afternoon, ****,Thank you for sharing this experience with the Better Business Bureau. We appreciate you providing these details so that we can support you further with your Nest thermostat and provide context around how energy-saving events are organized. First, we can absolutely understand how frustrating and confusing that situation must have felt, especially when things on your thermostat were changing without your ******** clarify, OhmConnects integration with Nest thermostats is designed to briefly adjust the temperature set point during energy-saving events (OhmHours or AutoOhms) to help reduce usage when the grid is under stress. It shouldnt be adding or modifying recurring schedules, and you should always be able to override any temporary changes we ******* earn Bonus ***** during AutoOhms and OhmHour events, your smart thermostat must be connected to your OhmConnect account, and in the On state (i.e. HEAT or COOL mode). Then, when the event happens, OhmConnect will automatically turn your smart thermostat to EcoMode (you will want to double check the temperature you have set for EcoMode to ensure it is outside of the range where it will turn back on), and youll earn Bonus ***** when you participate for the duration of the event. That said, if you were seeing schedules reappear after deletion, that does sound unusual. While its possible that Nests own learning feature or syncing between ****** Home and the Nest app was reapplying old preferences, we completely understand why it felt like something wasnt right, especially if those changes aligned with OhmHours. Please let us know if you would like assistance adjusting your Eco mode temperature presets and relinking your thermostat to our program, and we'd be happy to help! Further, for a bit of context about how events are organized, as a Demand Response program, we respond when the energy grid providers predict that the grid will be stressed! ?Most of the time, the energy market accurately predicts how much energy will be needed in a given region. But sometimes, people use more energy than forecasted, which means the grid will turn on a fast-acting power plant to balance the system. Thats where OhmConnect steps in!The energy grid providers will let us know their time of need and we dispatch our members to use less energy and prevent further stress and the use of fast-acting power plants that are bad for the environment! As such, our energy-saving events are dependent upon the time frames the energy grid is stressed. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to us at ****************************** Were here for you and happy to further assist. 1 starI would like to have OmhConnect removed from my SCE account. I just purchased a home and moved in on 11/13/2024. I called *** and they advised OmhConnect is connected to my SCE home address. They advised I'm not eligible for any SCE discounts because I have OmhConnect. That I need to remove OmhConnect from my SCE account. I tired calling two phone numbers listed for OmhConnect, but not one picks of the phone. Then you call both phones numbers they only advise email help@ohmconnect. for any questions. Then when you email help@ohmconnect you only receive a automated response. OhmConnect is a total scam. Can someone please start a class action suite and put OmhConnect out of business and free me from the account I never signed up for.OhmConnect, Inc.

Hi there, ******, Thank you for providing this feedback to the Better Business Bureau. We assure you that OhmConnect is not a scam, and we appreciate the opportunity to confirm the status of your OhmConnect account and provide further clarification about this process.Weve reviewed your email thread with our Customer Experience team and can verify that after you requested to delete your OhmConnect account on December 4, 2024, our team confirmed that your account had been deleted on December 6, 2024. For more context, it can take time for utility companies and third-party providers running Demand Response Programs to update their records and then pass those records onto the energy demand-response market. As such, this may have caused a delay in your ability to enrol in SCEs program. Lastly, regarding contacting our Customer Experience team, we're currently not set up to support our members over the phone. However, we are more than happy to walk through your questions and have a conversation through Chat or email, at ****************************** We hope this provides clarity and are here to help if you have any additional questions. 1 starI think ohm connect is a huge scam. I'm pretty sure they get paid by PG&E for every customer they sign up. PG&E basically passes the buck. The company gives you some credits here and there, especially when you first sign up. They proceed to give and take away credits so you can never win. They are the winners. They try to sell you lots of things and find ways to take away and credits you do earn. So you get your energy use down to literally nothing and you cannot decrease energy use any more without turning off your grandma's oxygen machine and turning your refrigerator off for the savings hour.PGE used to have energy use in real time. There seems to be no way to monitor your energy use with the smart meters which should be able to communicate with your phone. Instead they offer you a sign up with these scam companies like Ohm Connect. It seems like a great opportunity for a class action.OhmConnect, Inc.

Good afternoon, ***,Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. We appreciate the opportunity to confirm that OhmConnect is not a scam by clarifying how OhmConnect gets paid and rewards its members.First, OhmConnect is a Demand Response program, we respond when the energy grid providers predict that the grid will be stressed! ?Most of the time, the energy market accurately predicts how much energy will be needed in a given region. But sometimes, people use more energy than forecasted, which means the grid will turn on a fast-acting power plant to balance the system. Thats where OhmConnect steps in!As such, we are paid by the energy grid providers, not the utility companies, based on how much energy we can remove from the grid during times when the grid is likely to be stressed out. Linked below is an article that goes into more depth about energy markets and how OhmConnect is paid while being a free program for our members:******************************************************************************************** From there, we pass those earnings on to our members, based on their energy savings. Our goal is to make your rewards for saving energy transparent and consistent! As such, we reward you through OhmConnects ***** economy and a concept called Potential *****. Your Potential ***** are directly associated with your kWh usage. For example, if your average usage over the past 10 days is ***** kWh, your Potential ***** will be 800 *****. Then based on how you perform (% reduction), you will earn a direct percentage of your Potential ***** number. For example, if you were to reduce 50% then you would see 400 Energy *****. Additionally, you can always check your energy usage reporting through a service called ******************* linked below:*********************************************************************** After that, youll have the opportunity to spend your ***** in the Rewards Marketplace to redeem for gift cards, prize entries, devices, and even cash!Further, the reason we have negative ***** is because we share the responsibility with our members to provide the energy reduction that we have promised to the energy grid operators for each OhmHour. If we do not follow through with the amount of energy reduction we agreed to, then we are penalized accordingly. So, we pass on the implications of not saving energy to members who dont reduce energy during an event, similar to how we pass on the benefits for saving energy. To be fully transparent, the prices of energy fluctuate with the demands of the grid and typically only go up. We will continue to remain a free program that rewards our members as much as we can. Thanks again for sharing your experience and allowing us the chance to provide clarification.
