I requested a General Liability policy quote from PYA Insurance in May 2023. They sent me an amicable proposal which said it included the coverages we discussed on the call to summarize my business description and coverage requirements. The policy was not available to be previewed prior to binding it. When I received the policy it, my clients rejected it for having the exclusions I specifically said it could not have when I obtained the quote, and the quote confirmed the coverages that i required were included. The COIs they issued confirmed that the coverages were included, however a review of the policy endorsements showed that those coverages were not included. I have lost project and client over this. For 4 months I've requested the policies to be fixed and if I don't call, they never call back.. I'm still waiting on the promise of a corrected policy and I've lost a 3rd large client due to this mess.

      Business Response

      Date: 02/28/2024

We are respectfully writing to you in response to ********************* complaint.

First of all we want to assure you that we had addressed ********************* complaints even prior to being notified of the complaint to BBB.  ******************* was frustrated due to several changes that he had requested on his coverage for corrections removing exclusions that were originally stated on the quote proposals and he signed and agreed upon them.  To reiterate the quote proposal was very detailed and not amicable as he stated.  Insurance policies are never available to preview prior to legally binding coverage.  An insurance policy first must be bounded and policy documents are later issued. ******************* requested several changes on his policy.  We had to submit the requests to the carriers for processing and that can be lengthy process which we explained to him.  Several of the request to remove some exclusions were extremely changeling to do as they are standard exclusions on the coverage.

We operate an ************** and all of the COI's issued to ******************* were correct never represented coverage he did not have.  We have attached some email communication and text messages from ********** to ******************* and vice versa.  ******************* confirms that he did NOT loose any large clients on the contrary he is still working and operating.  Our office followed up with him to confirm they had accepted the insurance documents.  He confirmed on the General Liability policy they accepted but advised on the Umbrella they did not say anything but allowed him to continue working.  In our experience if a company is ever not in compliance with the insurance requirements they are not allowed on the job sites nor permitted to continue working until they comply with all requirements.  Lastly, recently ******************* has continue to request other insurance documents COI's to comply with other new jobs.  Most recent communication from 2/22/24 he received everything he needed and has been communicating with our office and our office continues to provide him with a service.  He never paid our company $55,000 not sure where that amount t came from.  Per the attached quote proposal he is still paying in monthly installments a total of $22,339.20.   Our main priority and concern is always customer satisfaction and we believe we accomplished that with *******************.

Please do not hesitate to contact our office if you have additional questions or need additional information as we will be happy to provide it.

      Respectfully,
