Should be illegal to charge so much to someone for an emergency service!! my son had a febrile seizure in Feb of 2024 at 14 months old and as I hope anyone can empathize it was extremely scary and traumatizing for not only my son but myself..in an emergency situation like this of course my first thought was to call 911 and I just dont feel its fair to be sent an ambulance only to be billed months later an absurd amount (when the ambulance only went from ********** to PIH ****** which is only a 4.6 mile drive) just to be told afterwards the ambulance wasnt in network.. Im sorry but in an emergency situation who stops and thinks wait before you send an ambulance can you make sure its in network with my insurance ?! Its so unfair and I understand that unfortunately this is just how it is but I just cannot afford to pay $3,400 when I already had to pay over $1,000 in his emergency room visit. In May of 2024 he had his second ever seizure and as scared as I was for that one as well I did not call an ambulance for fear of the bill like the one I had already had from your companywhich just breaks my heart because I shouldnt be afraid to call emergency services in an emergency for fear of having to pay an insane amount. Also its unclear to me why his bill shows 2 amounts for ambulance and transport services one amounts to $2171 and the other $1081?? Again this ambulance ride to PIH in ****** was only 4.6 miles away from my home and he did not get oxygen placed on him so I dont know why there was a charge for that either only his o2 sat on his finger was checked but never an actual oxygen mask. I sent an email with this information begging for some sort of empathy or help with reducing our bill and still havent received a responseFalck USA Inc

Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing your concerns. We understand how distressing it must have been to experience such an emergency with your son, and we sincerely empathize with your situation. We want to clarify the billing issue you are facing. It appears that your insurance provider, **********, underpaid the claim for the ambulance service. We attempted to appeal this decision on your behalf; however, ********** requires your permission to proceed with the appeal. Unfortunately, without this authorization, our request was *********** resolve this matter, we kindly ask you to contact ********** directly to appeal the claim. During this process, please provide them with permission for us to appeal on your behalf as well. This step is crucial to ensure that the appeal is processed effectively.Regarding the charges, we understand your concerns about the costs associated with the ambulance service. As we do not contract with insurance providers, we are considered out-of-network, which can affect the billing amounts. On 09/25/2024 I called paramedics to help me with my chest pain, the falck ambulance came and the *** results were normal but they insisted me to go to the hospital for further tests. They took me in the ambulance and in the moving ambulance the nurse poked my wrist nerves around 10 times with a big needle to draw blood but he failed to do so. Again he started to poke with the same big needle in my arm 5 times finally he was able to insert the big needle in my arm. The whole process was so painful. How can he put needle in a moving ambulance, they could have done that before starting the ambulance. By the time we reached the hospital my wrist was fully swollen and so painful. Its 2 weeks now still my wrist hurt a lot, it turned dark and I cant make a fist. The nurse damaged my wrist nerves. If they are not properly trained why are they allowed to treat the patients. When I went to the hospital, the hospital staff was shocked to see such a big needle in my arm. Why did he use such a big needle to put in my wrist and arm in a moving ambulance. Such a untrained staff. I will never take the paramedics help in future. They are only good in charging heavy bills by providing a very expensive transportation for a 5 minutes ride. Dear *****,
Were sorry to hear about your experience in one of our ambulances. It may not have been explained to you at the time, but the paramedic who took care of you and started the IV is not a Falck employee; in ************************************* provides basic care and safe transport only, and paramedic services (such as IVs and cardiac monitoring) are provided by the **************************** (as documented in your **************** Report). You can contact **** by visiting their website at ************, or their BBB page.
Meanwhile, as it appears your complaint involves OCFA, not Falck, we ask that you kindly withdraw your BBB complaint.
I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.Review fromMark W

1 starIn July 2023 my mother was taken by ambulance to the hospital with respiratory distress. The services provided were professional and legitimate. The $3,400 bill will filed with the insurance company and $3,200 was paid. The balance of $200 was billed to my mother who had since passed away. As executor of her estate, the balance was paid. Then bills began appearing as if there was an overdue balance. The bills were just different enough that it would be hard for most people to tell they were for the same service. I complained to the company and offered all of my documentation including the cashed check. They responded: "Currently, your account reflects a zero balance. Our systems experienced a glitch, which caused statements to be mailed/texted/emailed out in error. Please disregard the statements, SMS, emails you received as it was sent mistakenly on our end. Our IT department is currently working on resolving the system glitch. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused." Mistakes happen, but how many people might unwittingly pay the bill? I offer this as a caution to consumers. It sounds like there is a major problem with central billing. Check carefully if you think there is an error.Review fromMike R

Firstparamedics were awesome. They even visited me in the ** asking how I was doing before leaving. The billing **** was horrendous. They sent the bill to my insurance without a detailed bill. My insurance *** contacted me to get an itemized bill from them. I contacted them and the woman I spoke to was not fluent in English and I asked for someone else. I explained to them what my insurance company needed from them. They said they would comply. 3 months later they threatened to send me to collection.I contacted my insurance company to find out what was going on. They said Falck NEV** sent them the info. We had a conference call with them, with my insurance and myself. Once again the employee spoke little English but agreed to send the insurance company the info. THEY NEV** DID!! I ended up paying a $3000 bill for their incompetence. It gets worse. 3 years later the same thing happened, but I was able to finally get someone with some smarts and the bill was paid. I sent many letters to my county to end their relationship with this company, but sadly they are still around. Hoping to have good health so I dont need to deal with this crappy company.Falck USA Inc
