I contracted with Challman Engineering, *** to complete structural plans for a full gut home remodel in 2022. Challman Engineering has not made good faith effort to fulfill their portion of the contract despite full payment of the quoted estimate of $25,000. I have struggled to get them to complete a necessary land survey and geotechnical work to confirm project feasibility. They have consistently provided excuses about external parties holding up work when in reality they do not prioritize this project. The only significant movement on this project has been when I practically completed the work myself. I hired an external geotechnical engineer and surveyor to complete that portion of the project because they refused to schedule a timely external professional. Whenever I remove the excuses, a new one seems to be generated. Now it seems the truss engineering is the new excuse, again from a supposed external party. Further, I was charged for structural calculations that I suspect have yet to be completed. I've asked for design specifics that were still left out of the schematics due to poor follow-through on their part. Three years after contracting I have no usable plans and no end in sight for this project. I feel scammed and have lost upwards of $45,000 in holding costs on this property due to their inaction. I just want my plans completed and approves through the county, or my money back so I can hire a company that will follow through.
