Upon move out, I was charged for carpet cleaning and to replace drip pans, despite these being within normal wear and tear for living there for 3 years. I had requested a list for things to clean before move out, but was told there was not one. ****** responded to my request for proof of being above normal wear and tear with photos of the apartment, which coincide with normal wear and tear. There were no stains, tears, or rips. Carpet was vacuumed once a week. The drip pans were requested upon move in, but never provided. Since management has changed since then, the current management does not have the documentation. I have contacted the office for proof that this is above normal, and they cannot support this beyond stating basically that it just is. My lease does not include any cleaning requirements upon moving out. The price of the carpet cleaning is $95 and the drip pans are $25. The total amount beyond my deposit was $48.76.Business Response

Skyline Management no longer manages this property and hasn't since November of 2022. We are not able to assist you in any way. Your original lease is on file with the new management company, as that is the law. They are lying to you. I would recommend reaching out to RedStone Residential or DB Capital Management to address your concern. If you with to pursue legal action, those are the two parties that have wronged you. Best of luck.Customer Answer

I used to be a tenant at ******************************************************************************. Managed by ******************* Redstone. I gave more than 2 month notice of moving out and moved out September 29th, 2023. I returned keys and provided a forwarding address for my security deposit. I received a statement from ******************* with a refund for my deposit for $399.82 dollars. It's been more than 30 days since I moved out and to this date (November 17th, 2023) I still haven't received my deposit back. Despite trying to contact the property several times, I've only heard back a month ago saying that the accounting team would look into that and then silence.Business Response

I apologize you are experiencing this. However, you have filed a complaint against Skyline Management Group, and we have nothing to do with this property at all and haven't since 2022. My advice to you is to get an attorney and *** the owner of the property, DB Capital Management, and the management company, Redstone Residential. Since they haven't returned your deposit within 30 days, they are now required to pay you triple your deposit and not deduct anything. You should also *** them for your attorney's fees.
Best of luck with this but the law is on your side. I wish Skyline Management could do more to help you, but we have nothing to do with that property.

We lived in the Sugarhouse Cove Apartments for approximately 10 months of our 12 month lease. Following a verbal altercation regarding parking with a neighbor, said neighbor pulled a gun on my son in the stairwell, threatening his life if he "had anything else to say". Police were called, knew of the neighbor (had problems with him in this past), and filed a report. My son developed severe panic attacks, precipitated by the original altercation and due to the neighbor "hanging out" by the front door every time my son came home from work. With proper medical documentation we sought to break the lease under the reasonable accommodations clause on page 50 of the lease. However, at that time (January 2022) ALL office staff had quit and there was nobody to contact. My son was able to reach a manager with the company "Sugarhouse SCL, LLC" from their office in *****. While she verbally confirmed that our request to break the lease was approved, she did not provide that in writing. We moved after sending attached email (as advised by the women from ***** office) and getting no response. We never heard another word from Sugarhouse. Now, in November 2022, we received a collection notice from IQ ****************** requesting over $4000 (lots of late fees, etc). We have attempted to dispute the charges but ********** is no longer a business. We traced the apartments to a "Skyline Management Company". The collection notification listed a ************************* from Sugarhouse as the business's contact. ************************* is now listed as CEO of Skyline. I have made contact with him, and he states that Skyline no longer owns the property. I asked who now owns it and he claims he can't reveal that. I have spent weeks trying to track down an individual to show our documentation to so that we could clarify this situation. I am unable to find any owner of Sugarhouse Cove/Ascent. How do I dispute my charges if the company doesn't exist?Business Response

Skyline Management no longer manages this property. To dispute this debt, you would need to contact the owner of the property, or the current property management company. We wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors.Initial Complaint

I applied for an apartment on January 26th, 2023 on the ********************** website, the listed price of the apartment applied for was $1525. The company collected a $300 application ($50) and administration fee ($250), I received an approval email the next business day and went to the property on January 28th to discuss next steps with the leasing office. Upon my arrival, the employee working in the leasing office told me that the advertised price on their website was not correct and the price of the apartment was actually $1775. *********, who I spoke with, stated she would call corporate to see if they would honor the price of the apartment as it was posted online and stated that this was not the first time this happened. In the past, corporate office honored the price posted online. Several days passed and ********* worked with corporate to honor the price, but they ultimately declined, I received an email during this time period stating that my application was subsequently denied due to factors affecting my credit after receiving an approval email, the refund of the application fee was denied based on my voluntary withdrawal of my application, I never sent the property a request to withdraw my application. I am seeking a $250 refund for the deceptive collection of my application fee; the property was aware of the pricing discrepancy and still allowed applicants to apply. Not only are they illegally collecting these fees but they're also discriminatorily deciding whose quoted application price is honored and whose is not. I have attached a screen shot of the website which clearly shows an apartment being listed at $1525 and marked as available on their website. I would also be happy to provide all email communications between myself and the property.Business Response

Skyline Management Group does not manage this property, and we haven't managed this property since November of 2022. Your compliant is against the owner of the property, DB Capital Management, or with the management company, Redstone Residential. Skyline Management has nothing to do with this property at all.
Thank you.

My wife and I rented an apartment on Wednesday, 10/7/2022, from Autumn Glenn apartments, managed by Skyline Management group. We were sent, and signed, the lease, and were told our move in date was today, 10/7/2022. When we arrived, the unit was still under renovation, and we were not allowed to move in. We were also given the wrong address on the lease, so we could not set up utilities. When we brought these complaints to the property manager, she ignored us completely, not returning any calls or emails. So I went to the management company, and as soon as I emailed them, the property manager called to cancel our lease, and only after much fighting, refund our money. This is retaliatory, illegal behavior, and is unacceptableBusiness Response

My apartment complex, Ascent at Marmalade in Salt Lake City, UT, and many of the other properties managed by the same company, appear to have a number of fraudulent reviews. There is a hugely disproportionate number of 1-star reviews and 5-star reviews on Google. I first took notice because every single 5-star reviewer had all their other reviews hidden, while all the 1-star reviews did not. Almost all of these 5-star reviews came after the new property management company (Skyline) took over. Only one of the 5-star reviews did not hide their review history. This person reviewed my apartment complex (in Salt Lake City) approximately 4 weeks ago. Two weeks later, they left a review for a lock smith in Pittsburgh, PA stating that they had "lost their house keys." Looking further back into their history, they had also reviewed a furniture store in England a month ago. And around the same time they reviewed a construction company who renovated their master bathroom in LA, California. Their review of my apartment complex said they had been living here in Salt Lake happily for a year. I posted all of these details in a review of my own on Google, and the next morning I noticed that this same person's other reviews had all been hidden. Thankfully I kept screenshots of everything I listed above.I am concerned about the number of deceptive reviews because every legitimate review includes stories of dishonesty and incompetence by the management that has made the residents' situation practically unlivable. Double charging for utilities, water shutoffs with no prior notice, construction with no prior notice, and entirely unreachable management. I reached out with similar concerns multiple times by phone, email, and some of my neighbors have even visited the office and still been unable to get in touch with the management. Every single legitimate review advises prospective renters to go anywhere else, and every 5-star review says the exact opposite.Business Response

I sent my application for an apartment at Summit at Salado Creek on 7/25/22. I was denied on 7/26/22. I called the apartments the same day I was denied and I was told my $260 refund would be sent to the address I provided them with. I was told it would take 15-30 days to receive it. It is now 8/29/22 and I have not received anything. I've called many time to resolve this issue and they've always given me an excuse. I called the apartment on 8/22/22 to check the status and I was told ***** would be contacting me, I waited a week and no call. I called today 8/29/22 and I spoke with the manager *** and she rudely hung up on me with no explanation. I called again and they sent my call to voicemail.Business Response

Skyline billed monthly rent, admin fee, pest control and utilities (water/sewer/garbage). I paid on time and they did not forward the funds to the utility company. The company let me know that Skyline had never sent any of my money to them. I have a bill of almost $4000 that Skyline needs to settle or refund me all of the funds I paid. They've sold this property and have not returned an email or phone call. I am not the only tenant they've done this to and they need to be held responsible for this.Business Response

Dear ********,
Thank you for reaching out. Your claim is entirely false and devoid of facts. We paid all of the utilities on time every month for this property. Furthermore, you don't pay Conservice. Conservice only processes the bills for us, and we pay them, and they then pay the provider. We have $0 in unpaid funds for Tempo West.
