    On Dec. 22 2023, I reported multiple examples of defamatory statements and violation of my personal privacy on a forum run by groups.io.

    They do have Terms of Service for User Conduct, which the statements clearly violate. Following the recommended procedure, I reported the statements to the forum moderator, and later on Jan. 11 2024 also to [email protected] (their only public email address). On Jan. 12 2024, I also joined the group and marked the specific entries as violations of the Terms. But nothing has happened. Today I also tried calling the supposed contact phone number for the company, which goes straight to a voicemail stating that "Calls to this number are not monitored".

    One of the entries provides my personal name and home address, which causes safety and security concerns for my family and I. They also make false and defammatory statements about professional training and expertise for myself and my company.

    Groups.io does not verify user names, so allows libellous statements to be published anonymously. It is like an echo chamber, where a few extremists can post comments and incite each other. No wonder there were hearings in Congress today in the news, about social media causing people to commit suicide because of their distress for this kind of privacy violation and harassment.

    The entries that were published, and continue to be available to all subscribers at groups.io, are in clear violation of their own Terms of User Conduct. There was no response to the reports submitted to the forum moderator or to the company (groups.io), and the offending statements have not been removed. However, for reporting violations of their Terms of User Conduct, my user has now been banned from logging in to the group.

    This company groups.io has a Privacy Policy and Terms of User Conduct. But those are just a misleading facade, if they are ignored.
