2/20/2023; $50; Smog Check; Scammed customer by taking the DMV renewal notice & keys, drove vehicle into service bay and instead of generating an invoice showing charges for customer to sign/date, the inspector conducted the test. Per BAR representative, information of test shows vehicle computer was reset within seconds of the test. Smog inspector purposely failed vehicle to charge $50 and then to charge another $40 for retest plus certificate and other unknown charges without an invoice and without signing/dating the Vehicle Inspection Report. I requested to not pay on 2/20/23 and for a refund on 3/3/23 and was refused both times. On 3/4/23 another Smog Check business tested and issued a certificate for $57. I want the extra $7 back because Eagle Smog (owned/operated by Rialto Auto Glass) has refunded the $50 with consumer help from BAR.

    Consumer has been refunded.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 03/31/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

Eagle has not paid the additional $7 that it cost me extra to get my car smog certified properly and legally.

Had they not scammed me I would not have had to drive to them a second time to request a refund and then driven to another smog check shop to get the service done for additional cost. Eagle did not invoice me prior, and did not sign/date the Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR), gave me a receipt from their other licensed business so they could deny wrong doing when a complaint is made against that other business.

Yes, they paid the $50 they scammed me out of, but that should not be the end of their liability. Who knows how many others they have done this too? What keeps them from continuing to do it? It is not Better Business to let them off. It would be turning a blind eye.

And what about tax time? I pay my taxes but what is Eagle reporting? That the $50 was earned by Rialto Auto Glass?

I was told that Eagle Smog Check and Auto Glass had been added to the BBB data base, but I still cannot find it when doing a search. So my complaint is not logged against Rialto Auto Glass or Eagle Smog Check.
