Mom is 92 years old and has been a Press Enterprise subscriber for over 30 years. Every year, she pays for a full year, and you cut her off after 10 months. She keeps meticulous records. On Sept. 9th of last year, she paid ****** for 12 months. You just cut her off two months early and demanded another yearly payment. This seems to happen every year. She loves her paper, especially the health and gardening sections, but this seems like elder abuse. Feel free to contact me to discuss this business practice and set this right.

I've had a subscription with Press Enterprise for 29 years. I used to love their paper. The last several years the quality has gone downhill but the price got exorbitant. The paper is tiny and has redundant articles and alot more ads than articles. I want to support journalism but the ** is now very shady with their billing so I finally cut the cord. I always pay for a year up front and they tried to shorten my year subscription by FOUR MONTHS! **************** is out of the country, so hard to communicate with the thick accents. Every year this happens and they tell me every time it's shortened due to a "temporary surcharge" of .18 cents a day. Nowhere on my bill does it state there's a .18 cent surcharge. It now states they can raise your rate at any time, even after you agreed on a specific price. Scam. They always agree to fix it to the original end date, yet I kept getting bills with different end dates each time. They'll tell you their surcharges are temporary, but that's a lie. Keep in mind they don't give refunds or let you cancel early either. Buyer beware. Make sure you opt out of the " special editions" too... another **** to reduce the subscription time you paid for.

This company keeps harassing me about an over due payment which I refuse to pay because I have NEVER received not one issue newspaper from Press Enterprise! They called me today and I told them once again the same thing. As a retired veteran of 20 years of service Ive NEVER had this unsatisfactory service before! I never received NOT one newspaper from them!!!!

I, too, received my bill and they had cut my yearly subscription by more than two months. I have opted out of the special editions, and still got the excuse of a distribution surcharge. The invoice states "This subscription grants you a FULLY PREPAID, NON-REFUNDABLE license to receive and access the subscription materials for the duration of the SUBSCRIPTION TERM." They enforce the non-refundable part, but not the duration part. Isn't this a binding contract? Unethical at least, and perhaps illegal. The quality of the paper has suffered lately and is not worth the price they want now.

When my renewal notice was mailed to me, it showed my "year-long" subscription was ending over two months earlier than my records showed. When I called to sort out the discrepancy, I was told the difference was a "fuel surcharge". There is no mention of such a charge on my bill. Never has been. The agent said it was due to raising costs of delivery. I was floored! Isn't that what I'm paying for? A newspaper to be delivered to my home. Not a new concept. She said she would correct the full, one year length of my subscription. I'm wondering how many people are getting fleeced by this "surcharge" who aren't paying such close attention to their records. And what a despicable business practice! The Press Enterprise never fails to disappoint.

The Press Enterprise is a second rate newspaper with second rate customer service. Thirty minute delays while on hold told me that I would never subscribe with these clowns again. You will notice on all their invoices there is no disclaimer regarding " no refund" for subscriptions paid in advance. Stay away from these people, they are a fraud.
