I was wanting to purchase and test a particular headset which has very limited availability. Headset Advisor listed the specific headset as in-stock. I placed the order. I provided all my information to Headset Advisor and made the purchase. Order 1013463.After not receiving any update after the initial purchase, I tried to check status late in the day. It turns out, a third-party is used to provide order status and the information I shared with Headset Advisor was also shared with this third-party company called "Shop." After "Shop" wanted additional personal information to provide status, I went to the Headset Advisor webpage and initiated a live chat. The representative on the chat ultimately could not provide status but asked for my e-mail to send status later. My e-mail was provided in the order. Something was starting to feel wrong.I then called Headset Advisor. The representative who answered my call could not provide status either but did confirm he could see my order. After a prolonged hold, he came back on the line and said the product wasn't really in-stock and my order would probably be shipped in 4 to 6 weeks. The product was still showing in-stock while I was talking to the representative. I suggested that showing a product as in-stock when it is not wasn't right. He agreed, but said it is a common issue. He said it does show out of stock if stock hits zero, but he said it was out of stock and was still showing as in-stock as we spoke.I asked that my money be refunded. He said ok and that it would be refunded when accounting could get to it.So now an unethical company has my personal information, has shared it with at least one third-party, and seems to feel no urgency in apologizing for what probably was not a mistake or refunding my business. This definitely feels like an unethical business at best to me. Disappointing as I thought we may have found a partner for additional orders after testing the headset. Definitely not!
