    I experienced discriminatory treatment at Loyalty Pawn on Broadway on December 5, 2024, around 12 p.m. I came in to pay off my loan and pick up my item, and the employee immediately told me to take off my hoodie. I asked why, and he said it was policy. I complied and took it off without issue. However, I noticed other customers inside the store were wearing hats and were not asked to remove them even though the sign outside clearly says no hats, no hoodies, no sunglasses. I was the only person singled out.When I called the store after leaving to ask why I was the only one told to remove something, the same employee answered and claimed he was the manager. Instead of answering my concern, he got defensive and accused me of being difficult, and falsely claimed I was threatening him which I was not. I remained respectful until he started twisting the situation and making false claims.This felt like clear discrimination based either on my gender presentation (I am a masculine-presenting woman) or race. I did nothing to warrant being singled out or spoken to disrespectfully. If this business enforces a policy, it should be enforced consistently not selectively based on appearance or identity.
