A home warranty was purchased for my new home in October 2023. Closing of thr home was October 18, 2023. I called One Republic on October 24, 2023 due to the unfortunate circumstance of the garage door breaking on the new home. I was informed that while the plan was purchased and initiated for the home, payment had not been received from the realtor as of that date, so they were unable to access the plan details or arrange for a service call. I was told to pay out of pocket and submit the receipt for possible reimbursement if covered by the plan. Receipts were submitted and I spoke with two different representatives who both stated that it would be denied due to no pre auth. I explained what I was told by their representative and stated that I tried to create a service call back in October, but was told it wasn't possible due to no payment. Both representatives stated that I was given false information, but unfortunately nothing could be done. Not only am I suffering the consequences of the staffs incompetence on their protocols and processes, but I was basically made out to be a liar despite having the account noted that I had in fact called in October, and confirmed that it is very common for payment to be delayed by the closing company. Home warranty companies have a reputation of scamming people as it is. But I was told that One Republic was one of the "better ones". Certainly not a good first impression, and certainly not the way to treat a new customer, or ANY customer for that matter. What sense does it make for me to pay out of pocket $600 for garage repair if I called my home warranty company when the incident occurred??? I would have much rather paid the $85 service fee instead of losing $600 to false information given by their employee!
