A parking citation was issued to my vehicle on 08/25/2023 for violation of signs. I appealed the citation but was denied. They sent me a picture of my vehicle while it was parked on the street when they issued the ticket. But the picture did not show any signs of a no parking notice around the area. There was even cars parked on both sides of the vehicle. The original fee was $50 dollars but now they want $102.50 I feel like their evidence is not enough to deny my appeal. Please help me settle this matter

      Good morning,

There are three steps a registered owner or driver can take to contest a parking citation. The first step is to appeal it to Parking Administration to review if the officer made a mistake in issuing the citation. If your citation was upheld, then it means the appeals clerk reviewed the officer's citation and the signage around the street where the vehicle was parked to arrive at that conclusion. The officer's ***** does not need to show a sign, as showing where the vehicle is parked and the location on the citation we can review the entire area. The second step to contest a parking citation if you don't agree with the appeal outcome is to request a Hearing. This request must be done within 21 days from the review date as explained in the notice which is mailed out. If you now owe ****** that means that your citation is not only past the first due date of 21 days after review, but it is now past the 2nd and final due date as well. Once a citation is past due a hearing can no longer be requested and you can no longer contest the citation.

I was apparently given a parking ticket for $52.50 on 9/6/23. This ticket was not on my windshield. Then on 10/5/23 I got a letter from The City of San Diego says that I now owe $92.50. After calling The City, I am informed that I can not appeal this ticket, get my "late fee" removed or even bring this to court because it is past 9/29/23. *************************, from The *********** Diego, said that my only recourse is to pay the ticket then argue it (conversation was at 12:42 on 10/6/23). So, I paid that ticket and called back to ask how to appeal. I was told by a different agent that it was now closed and there is nothing I can do. I asked to be forwarded to ************************* (since she seemed to know how I can appeal) and gave my number. I was not contacted again. I would like my $40 back.

Good afternoon. The vehicle operator contacted Parking Administration and spoke to one of our phone agents requesting to appeal their citation. The agent correctly advised that the citation was past due and could not be appealed and offered a payment plan as the only option other than fully paying the citation. The caller then requested that they wanted to appeal the citation again at which the phone agent explained that they could pay the citation and submit a claim with Risk Management. The caller then hung up, paid the citation and called Parking Administration again requesting an appeal which the new phone agent correctly advised that an appeal could not be submitted and the citation was paid. The caller still has the option to submit a claim with the City's Risk Management department if they believe that the City owes them money which their department will investigate.

I would like to escalate this parking citation I received from the *********** Diego. I don't believe the parking citation is warranted after the reasoning for the citation and the area I parked was NOT clearly marked. There was construction all over the street in this area with construction machines and horses all around. The streets and curbs were broken and being repaired in many areas of the street that made it even more difficult to determine if an area was not to be parked on...I am being charged over $300 for a parking violation that was NOT clearly marked and that seems ****** excessive.. Look at my driving history and parking record, I do not get these tickets because I obey the rules. If the rules and regulations themselves are not being followed by the city and it is DIFFICULT or impossible to know if an area is valid to be parked where other cars are parking, I don't believe I should have received a citation...Especially as much as $300+...I am attaching photos of the area at the day of citation. The photos I took were in the evening with the sun coming down and shade/shadowed area. In complete sunlight when I originally parked there around 1pm, it would be difficult to determine that this is a NO Parking zone. Especially with all the construction stated earlier...Please look at a photo from 7/2022...The said area of no parking is CLEARLY marked. Which would have been easier to understand that that is not a parking zone and meant for **** handicap access...But AT ITS PRESENT STATE, it looks like any other curb or driveway or construction area that needs to be fixed and corrected. There is a photo in 2017, that this area was not even considered a ADA **** access area. The clearly marked photo is from 7/2022. When it was more valid and marked properly. As of today, the area is not marked properly.

A parking citation was issued on 11-04-22 by *********** Diego to one of my vehicles registered under my name. My daughter uses the car to work in San Diego. I live in *********** ** which is about a four hour drive to San Diego. I did not receive the parking citation by mail which should have been sent to my address in ***********. I found out about the citation through mail in January 2023. By the time I was aware of the situation the parking went from around $50 dollars to $177.62. I cant afford to pay $177 for a parking ticket so I usually pay on time if I received the notice on time. The citation number is ******** and the vehicle license plate is *******. Please help. I can pay the original fee if the *********** Diego is willing to help me out. They put me on collection notice for a parking ticket. This is their info, City Treasurer *************************************************** phone #************
