I paid the deposit of $250 and plans were scheduled. I sent $2500 of the remainder of the full fee on 11/06/23. Zelle would not allow more to be sent in 24 hours. The next morning (less than 12 hours later) I was informed by my office that I cannot take the time off. I immediately contact Jet Medical Tourism to cancel and refund the $2500 that I sent less than 12 hours prior. They have made excuses each day as to the time it takes to talk with management about refunding the money. They are now not responding at all. I understand losing the deposit but they owe me the $2500 and should pay it back immediately.Business Response

Paid Jet Medical Tourism $13,853.00 for a full facelift, lips, brow, fat transfer including a down-payment of $500.00 plus an over payment over an additional $500.00 for a surgery scheduled for Thursday, 9/9/2022, after much ado I flew to 9/8-*********. They broke nearly every detail in contract from surgery from housing to the pre paid surgical, canceled my servicec2 minutes before I was to b wheeled in ER. Literally. Then told me to pack. Basically told me I wasn't supposed to stay there but it's noted. It was said my surgery being canceled is rear, blamed ot on my health. I was afraid I wouldn't safely make it back to US if I didn't do what they said. I looked at calling embassy for fear I may disappear as ****** who said he owns Jet made up reasons. Irregardless of the "reasons" promises to handle this have been at best 2 text back "traveling" (****) and worker ********* today says she'll "reach out" when accounting tells her something. This IS $13,383.00. My father passed of cancer earlier this year to gift me this. I am both a wealthy woman at 53 and single I struggle. They scammed me to trust them. I am desperate for this to be resolved asap.Business Response

This customer represented on her client intake form that she met certain medical benchmarks. When she arrived for her procedure, the doctor's ****** confirmed she actually did not. Accordingly, the procedure was cancelled in the best interests of the client and our cancellation policy was invoked. The customer read, acknowledged, and signed her agreement which outlines our cancellation policy.
It reads as follows: Cancellation by Surgeon or Hospital Policy: If I arrive for surgery and the surgeon or hospital decides, for my health and safety, not to attempt or complete my surgery, I will be responsible for all expenses incurred by surgeon, hospital/clinic, and Jet Medical Tourism including but not limited to, hospital costs,transportation costs, hotel stay costs, lab fees, coordination fees,administrative fees, etc., incurred as a result of the cancellation. Upon said cancellation,any remaining balance of the 25% of my funds paid will be refunded to me after all expenses are deducted. I will be responsible for all expenses that exceed the 25% of the funds I have paid to date.Initial Complaint

I paid jet medical $250 via PayPal on October 7th, 2021 and an additional $5,199 on October 12th, 2021. Via bank transfer.My main complaint is that they completed a different surgery than I have paid for. I paid for gastric bypass which is a common surgery in the US and they ended at performing a mini bypass. I only had 10 minutes to choose if this surgery and I felt trapped in the situation as I had traveled from **** to Tijuana, Mexico for the surgery.I wasn't giving ample time to research or make a good decision. On top of that, I had already paid for the gastric bypass. I have reached out to get medical about this and they never called me back like they said they would. All they gave me was an email so I figured this would be a better option since they were not taking that complaint seriously.The gastric bypass is rarely if ever approved in the US and no providers were familiar with it. Which has caused many issues in my healing. I have developed cerebellar ataxia and uneven gait or difficulty walking due to complications I have after the surgery. No provider seemed to know how to help me do to having experience with the mini bypass. I also have developed hand tremors and am unable to even work a desk job and have been unemployed since July and have not worked it all since December 10th 2021.I would like a refund as the service paid for was changed last minute. Jet medical did ask why it has taken so long from in the contact them but I was in contact with the doctor who basically kept saying I will need I revision surgery which would be more money out of my pocket. I also have been in the hospital over 15 times this year. My latest stay was almost 3 weeks long in the hospital neurology unit and neuro rehab unit.Business Response

We are sorry to hear about your bariatric surgery experience in Mexico last year on 11/2/2021. We sincerely apologize for any potential unsatisfactory service provided to you by your surgeon. Please note your surgeon is responsible for the surgery performed. Jet Medical Tourism only connects you to a medical facility and doctor in Mexico. We are not a medical provider and are not involved in the medical decisions that are made at the time of surgery.
For 1st complaint that you paid for a gastric bypass procedure but received the mini gastric bypass. The price of each procedure is the same. There is no cost difference to you.
For 2nd complaint, our office confirmed with your surgeon immediately after you filed this complaint. She reported that all steps were taken to ensure ample time was provided during your in-person consultation. She explained the differences between the two procedures to you. Your surgeon indicated that you had the option to cancel your procedure at any time. She reported that you were not pressured into making a quick decision. Based on your consultation, you made the decision to move forward with her recommendation to undergo the mini gastric bypass procedure.
All surgeries and medical procedures carry an inherent risk of serious health complications. Prior to traveling abroad, Jet Medical Tourism always recommends for patients to purchase medical tourism coverage that covers potential complications from medical procedures abroad. We offer this medical tourism insurance coverage to every patient. Your contract provided this option, but you declined the option to purchase it.
