After significant discussion around a Nikon Z50 camera, adapters and lens, I was not ready to buy. The salesperson (****?) offered a significant discount and I became interested in the purchase. I did ask twice: "This camera is new, right?", to which he replied "yes". I have a witness for this. And as we were wrapping up the deal, I was clear that I wanted it in it's original box (because it was described as new). He agreed and reached under the counter and pulled out a box that had the same model number on it (Nikon Z50), so I assumed it was the proper box. Turns out the serial number on the ******************** and box were NOT the same. So, the source of the camera was unknown. I did not see this until we were 15 minutes away in the car. I also found NO manuals or warranty card in the box. Also, the camera locked up in a state with a white display screen that would not change until I changed the modes of the camera. This too happened in the car 15 minutes away. So, we turned around and went to the shop. He refused to refund it and I called the police. They arrived and said they could not force a change in a sales transaction. The salesperson was hiding behind the small print in the written receipt that said "All sales final". I had completed the electronic transactions earlier ($1766.58 total). Following that electronic transaction, he held out the written receipt form for signature and SPECIFICALLY SAID: "here, add your name and signature" and "this is strictly for warranty purposes." So that was a false pretense for having me sign it.TWO ILLEGAL ACTIONS:1) Fraudulent sale - not a new camera in box (no factory box or manual - unknown origin). He answered more than once that it WAS new. Also said he had it's box.2) False pretense for getting me to sign the hand written receipt (after electronic receipt done).Other issues: Potentially defective camera. "High Def" lens represented as worth $1600.-See mismatching serial numbers in pics. No Manuals.
