Company Name: Buy Me a Coffee Website: ************************************ Nature of Complaint: Account Suspension and Funds Withheld Without Clear Explanation Description of the Problem:I am a creator who has been using Buy Me a Coffee to receive support from my audience. On [insert date], my account was suddenly suspended without prior warning or a clear explanation. The notification simply stated that my account was in violation of the platforms terms of service, but no specific rule or content was identified.I have reached out to Buy Me a Coffee's support team multiple times, requesting clarification and evidence of any alleged violations. So far, I have only received vague responses, and my appeals have gone unanswered. In the meantime, approximately ***** (around $1,950 USD) in legitimate contributions from supporters remain frozen and inaccessible to **** suspect the issue may have been caused by an automated system falsely flagging a completely benign article I posted which includes no ******************* content whatsoever as violating their policies.Initial Complaint

I was going on a birding tour in ********. The Trinidad govt shut down access to ******. My tour operator, ****** ******, found the Buy me a coffee platform and asked me to send money to try it. I sent $25 on March 19, 2025. As of today, ****** ****** has still not received the money. I filed a dispute with my credit card company. Buy me a coffee had already charged a fee to deliver the money, and now they were going to charge $15 to ****** ****** to get my $25 back. Apparently the Trinidad govt had the money, but hadnt given it to ******. I got an email from Buy me a coffee on May 21. I canceled the credit card dispute and replied to Buy me a coffee that I did so. They have never responded to my emails. Ive sent about 10. They have no phone number. There are many complaints about this business. It seems like a scam to me. I want them to be held responsible, to answer emails, to not punish ****** ******. He had nothing to do with this. They took over a week to even approve him after I sent the money, which then was too late for us to use as a platform. I have no way to contact them and I want this resolved. Based on their customer complaints I have seen online, it seems this is how they do business. Very shady. They threatened in their email that if I pursued a charge back, Id be black listed from using their platform. I dont want to use it, but threatening is never a good way to conduct business.Initial Complaint

I created an account on their platform, Buy Me a Coffee, in late November to go with a TikTok account I made to have some fun while trying to raise funds for my kid's marching band. A few friends made donations, which was kind of them, and that was that. The fundraiser I was trying to supplement ended in early December, so I went in and set up a Stripe payment account, as required, to prepare. When I went to check donations, I saw a notice that the account was on hold. There was a form to supply information about what I was using the site for and links to where I was promoting it which I sent.I was a little annoyed because I already had to verify my identity to set up their payment method, and my BMAC page had a full explanation of what I was using the site for already. Nonetheless, I filled it out and gave more detail with personal info that I hadn't put on the public page (for obvious internet safety reasons).I read the terms and didn't feel there was cause for concern, but after a week, I got an email with the same form for info and no additional direction on what was actually needed. I reached out via Instagram & was given a similar BS answer that didn't help. I submitted info again recently (it's the end of Jan at this point), and they haven't bothered to respond. Still, I logged in to see if there was progress and saw they suspended my payment account without notice "due to not supplying enough info." Except I did supply everything, multiple times. I feel like they either 1) didn't actually read anything or 2) THEY are the frauds, because this is ridiculous. The donations I received before they got weird total just over $50, so we are not even talking about a considerable amount of money here.I have requested documentation that donors have been refunded, but I also felt the need to warn people about this platform. IDK if they're frauds or if they just profoundly **** at communication. Either way, I recommend finding another option.Initial Complaint

On December 21st, 2023, I received $400 on Buy Me A Coffee. This was the first time that I had received payment on Buy Me A Coffee, and so they decided to spark their "one time review" that stated it needed to be reviewed for anywhere from one to seven days. Well? I waited for their required "one to seven days" to only receive an email within minutes of the seven-day **** that appeared completed automated and asking for more information for their review. When I complied and submitted the information requested, they stated via their automated process that it would be under further review for another "one to four" days. That's it - 1 to 4 days from the 28th of December. No mention of holidays, no mention of whether it's business days, just "You'll hear from us in 1-4 days" - well? It's been over 4 days. It's been a week, and I haven't heard a single thing from BuyMeACoffee, despite reaching out to their support via the only listed support section on the website. I still can't request a payout or anything. They need to finish their job and complete the review process, or they need to stop accepting payments from people if they have no intent on actually doing a payout.Initial Complaint

On Monday, May 8, I was supposed to receive a payment of $91.80 from the business. This payment was intended as a donation. In return, the business requested that I create a website and advertise it by including a link to my account on the website page. However, I am facing a dispute with the business because the task they asked for seems to be beyond my capabilities. It appears to be something that an average person, cannot easily accomplish. We would like to clarify that we did not request the user to create a website or promote our platform (Buy Me a Coffee). Instead, we inquired about where the user is promoting their Buy Me a Coffee page in order to receive donations. We ask for these details if we cannot find the user's Buy Me a Coffee link on any of their social media or website, as that is typically where creators receive donations from. This inquiry arose due to suspicions regarding the creator, as we aim to mitigate the risk of money laundering and credit card fraud, which are unfortunately prevalent in this industry. However, following a thorough investigation by our moderation team, we have successfully approved the creator's account.
