I paid $745 for a bar exam course. I emailed them after finding that the course advertised vs. the actual course contents differ dramatically. I asked them for clarification regarding the course components that were fraudulently advertised. They responded by unilaterally cut my access to the course. And refusing to refund me the entire amount. They kept $120 and refuse to respond to my emails. Note: I never asked for a course refund. This was so abrupt. I suspect its because I am disabled, told them so, because they said I was "clearly unfit for their course." when they canceled my login.

    Business Response

As clearly stated in our Return Policy (****************************************************************), which purchasers explicitly agree to on the purchase form, "The SmartBarPrep portion of your Self-Study Program tuition is NOT refundable, because it involves downloadable material from an outside vendor. If you request a refund for Self-Study, your refund will be reduced by $120." This purchaser requested a partial refund on December 8th, which was granted, despite being outside of our Refund Policy as they had already received a custom study schedule. On December 10th, purchaser became upset that they did not see answers to certain questions in the online tool. We replied with links to the answers, which they continued to insist were not there. At that point, purchaser requested another partial refund. Given their combative behavior, we opted to issue a full refund of the remaining portion of the program, minus the outside materials. As noted in that email, we offered to refund the cost of the outside materials as well, if their single-use code had not been used. As we confirmed with the outside vendor, the code had been used and purchaser received the external materials. At this point, purchaser became extremely combative and began to threaten our business, our team, and (eventually) our family members. For example, in an email sent shortly after issuing their refund: I will make sure I distribute all of your course materials online so that anyone and everyone can access your course materials, if you dont reinstate my course access.

I am unemployed, *****, and have lots of time on my hands. I will come for your company and everything you hold dear in your life, [names redacted for privacy]. I will make sure everyone knows that you are anti-disabled people, that you think we are unfit for your course, and that you falsely advertise the contents of your course.

Fuck you. F*** your dog. F*** your mom. F*** your grandma. F*** your f****** children. Absolutely f*** you.

Given their behavior, this is not a customer we would ever consider working with in the future.

I am rejecting this response because: you falsified emails from me, lying saying I threatened you (I dont even know your family) while removing the parts where I was polite, you  deemed me unfit because of my disability. I knew you all would lie, but to stoop so low as to fabricate messages I never sent  whew

The only honest part of your response is saying that your course had incorrect material, I alerted you to this, and your response was to kick me out and refuse me a full refund.  I never asked for a refund for the course and to cut my access. You decided to do so unilaterally, after I already paid. I would never have clicked the 120$ link if I knew I would have no say in taking the course AFTER I PAID FOR IT. if I knew your company cuts access to anyone whenever they feel like it, I wouldnt have signed up for something in which you keep 120$ either way. You dont disclose anywhere that participating in the course is subject to you randomly deciding to kick folks out. Thats stealing from the very students you purport to help.

I am rejecting this response because:

No where in the terms and conditions when signing up, nor in the refund policy, does it say users may be cut off from the courseif they ask for a refund. And that the refund will not include 120, which you may have lost because you intended to continue the course. Your attached alleged emails  support my point. You offered me a second partial refund. I said yes. Then, out of nowhere, in response to me accepting the refund for the module I was dissatisfied with, you decided to just cancel my enrollment all together. Any alleged unprofessional language came AFTER YOU AGREED TO GIVE ME A MODULE REFUND AND IN RESPONSE TO YOU CUTTING MY ACCESS - WHILE KEEP 120 OF MY MONEY. your refund policy doesnt address situations in which YOU cut access to. Course the customer WANTS TO CONTINUE.  This is fraudulent. You wait till someone clicks the $120 link then cancel their access and keep the money?

also, I dont know you. Why how in what world would I know your personal details, let alone threaten you? Stop literally making things up. Just give me my money back.
