My husband and I made an appointment with Windstar 11/2023 for a new front door. We wanted a mahogany door paint grade that we would paint to match the existing doors and trim of the house. Around Feb 2024, we received a call that the door had arrived. We were told to bring our existing door in to measure the new door so they would be the same size. When my husband went in, he noticed that our door was in a box labeled "pine" instead of mahogany. We asked to see the invoice to confirm this was the correct door (pine is much less expensive) and they assured us this was the correct door but they would not provide us with any invoice or documentation that this was a mahogany door other than their word. We asked for a contact number for the sales person from the manufacturer directly to confirm and they refused. We took the door home, painted and installed it. About 8 months later, I reached out to the company again as significant splitting in the wood began. I had inquired about a warranty given this door had been installed less than a year ago. The splitting has gotten worse and you can actually see through the splits in the door. The sales person declined to provide us the specifics of the warranty other than the door would not be covered as it had been exposed to outside conditions. I reached out to ******* doors directly and they let me know that this particular door could not be painted black (which we had painted it) because it would absorb too much light and could potentially cause cracking. We were never told that this could happen, we would have either paid for the protective coating to prevent this or gone with a different type of door entirely. ******** claims that she did tell us this information, which I can assure you she did not. We would not have paid nearly $2500 for a door knowing it would potentially get damaged in the sun. After a few back and forth emails, ******** stopped answering us completely
