Cancelled sling TV service. Received email confirming cancellation. Was charged for another month service later that day after I had received the email confirming cancellation. Contacted sling TV via chat as only means of communication I could find. Was refused refund, they stated I used service after cancelled. I did not use service after cancelled or to this day and I have now put a dispute notice on my credit card.Initial Complaint

I cancelled sling in early June on the TV where I subscribed to the service. I took a screenshot that shows service will cancel on Jul 19. Lo and behold, I go to my account on Jul 22 and find that I have been billed again for another month. This seems to be a common issue with asking as they are seeing a large number of customers leaving. I went on chat to customer service and offered to show them cancellation screenshot but was told they do not offer refunds - I recorded the chat for evidence. They told me to contact my credit card company to block payment. A company that does not value customers - I was one of the first to subscribe to the service when it started. I have paid for the service that I have used but this is just beyond acceptable!Initial Complaint

All of the football games are not working on sling today . I have friends here to watch the football that I pay for and dont have. Getting in contact with Sling customer service is impossible. They just have a computer answering all of my questions. This is very frustrating.Business Response

I ordered their service. And for a few months tried to use it. Decided to cancel because I could not get it to work. It continued to buffer so much that you could not even watch a 30 minute show. It was really bad. You would only see about 10 minutes of it. I called to cancel my subscription. I ask to have a refund since I can not use their product. They were rude and told me to read the terms and conditions. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that there is not one. I asked for a number to a home office and was told there was not one. I paid $58.71. They can have the $1.96 for the 1 day of the subscription.Business Response

Sling TV's no-refund policy states that refunds are not provided for prepaid or partial months of service, and if canceled, service will remain active until your renewal date; however, as an exception, I submitted a refund of $58.71.

They are shutting down their Slingbox servers on November 9th, rendering Slingboxes inoperable. This is inappropriate as I and others have spent good money on their products. There is no excuse for this since while they claim there are other options out there, there is nothing as good as their product which they're inexplicably shutting down. You expressed concern with the shutdown of Slingbox servers,rendering Slingboxes inoperable.
Slingbox is a product that allows the purchaser to sling (deliver) his or her ** programming to other devices for viewing, for a one-time purchase price (i.e., there is no monthly fee). Please note, 2017 was the last year Sling Media manufactured this product. Slingbox products come with a one-year manufacturer warranty. The warranty will be covered under the original terms and conditions if the product was purchased from an authorized dealer in ***************** or ******, and a copy of the original receipt is available. In addition, until the Slingbox servers are permanently taken offline on November 9, 2022, most Slingbox models will continue to work normally, although the number of supported devices for viewing will decrease as versions of the SlingPlayer apps become outdated and/or lose compatibility.
When the Slingbox servers are taken offline in 2022, all Slingbox devices will become inoperable.
We are glad that consumers have enjoyed this product. The decision to discontinue it was made due to the fact that the demand for Slingboxes has decreased, resulting from the advancement of technology within the ** industry and the ubiquitous nature of streaming devices and services over the past several years. Sling ** is focusing its efforts on continuing to develop and enhance innovative products to meet the evolving needs for place-shifted viewing. We regret any inconvenience.

I am rejecting this response because: I paid good money for my Slingbox and it is the only product of its kind that does what it does. Lack of current demand for boxes does not diminish the desire for those who own them to be able to use them.
