On October 16, 2023, C&J Fencing came out to install new fence at my home in Hercules. They started on a shared line with **************************. *********************** came out in 2022 to give me an estimate. I took him over to *****'s yard and told him that I wanted the same fence they installed on her property. **** told me he would do so. He sent me the contract. I didn't sign the contract at that time. When I was ready to install the fence, I called **** to inform him. He said he had to send me a revised contract. It was dated 6/12/23. I gave it to ***** and she reviewed it, and signed for the split invoice. We had agreed that I was getting the same fence that was installed on her property because that is what she wanted. WE CHECKED THE CONTRACT AND IT WAS THE SAME AS HER CONTRACT. ***** proceeded to send them an email with photos of her fence and the new fence on my property. It was not the same. She sent them both contracts. I called them to inform them that it was not the *********** and the gate was poorly installed. The quality of the job was poor. They told me that they would come the following day to install the other side of the fence. I told them that we had to resolve the fence that was installed first. I told ******* that someone had to come out and see the work. **** was on vacation, but the office told me he would be back on October 18. When **** arrived, I took him over to ***** and showed him that was not the fence we agreed upon. I showed him both contracts. His response was that someone made a mistake and that was not the fence I signed for in the contract. I reiterated that both ***** and my contract were exactly the same . I told him that he had to install the fence I requested. I distinctly remember repeating various times that I wanted the same fence as *****. When I told him that today, his response was that it was 2 years ago and he can't remember what he said. The first contract was dated 6/21/22. He sent me the contract 1 week after he came out to give the estimate. He was fully aware of the fence that I wanted.

Talked to consumer and she stated the business called her back 12/13 or 12/14 and that she agreed to a new contract on the phone but informed the business that she could not have the complaint removed from the BBB and gave the business my number in case they would like to contact me. The business told her they would send a new contract via email and have not done it yet. She said she is still waiting and if they get back to her she will let us know. -TC

On October 28th, 2022, C&J fencing installed a new fence for us at our recently aquired property. We paid them $2,457.84. After installing the fence, my neghbot made me aware that the new fence was actually blocking a gate that gives access for her to leave her property. C&J literrally ran the fence against the gate so that it can not be used at all. ***** was very difficult to get ahold of. He simply would not respond to my texts or calls until I contacted ************************************************ company and asked them for help. She is our real estate agent and had recommended them. ***** finally came over and made a plan to rectify the situation. Fall became winter and ***** never came. When Spring came around, I reached out again on April 13th. ***** responded that he would have the fence repaired no later than April 28th. On April 27th, ***** said he would be at our home to do the repair around 2 or 3pm. He never showed and never followed up to let us know why. I have tried repeatedly since then to reach out to him through text and phone calls and have heard nothing. I am left with needing to hire a new fence company. The greatest harm caused is the strained relationship with our neighbor becaused this is still unresolved.

We don't have any record of doing business with this customer and we are out of ********** and the customer is out of ************.  We also do not have anyone named ***** working for our company and never had.  I don't know if this was a mistake on the customers part?

Our neighborhood fence was built by C&J in 2010. The contract contains a 15 year warranty to replace rotted posts. The posts began to rot in 2017. Fast forward to April 8, 2023, when we notified C&J that more posts were rotted. We have provided all information requested including photos and contract #s. C&J has offered to repair the posts at a cost of $150 (later $120) per post. But this fee is not included in the contract. We have called numerous times but have never received a call back (even though promised by T and M, employees of C&J).

We met w/C&J this morning and they have agreed to perform the work. If possible, could you hold off closing the file until they have completed the job? Im  hoping they will complete it within the next two weeks.

    Thanks again,

    Anna

Got our fence replaced end of May. The long story short is that the crew broke our irrigation system in several places. The leaks were relatively easy to repair - the crew came back to help fix the ones we pointed them towards. However they broke the electrical wire that goes to the sprinkler system. C&J refuses to reimburse me for the damages as they say they are not contractually obligated to do so. However, there was clear recklessness in how the crew went about their work. They literally buried the electrical wire inside a concrete pole. I had to dig through each individual pole to find the place where the wire broke. I also shared photos with C&J fencing. The demeanor of the crew was pretty unprofessional. The corporate was more reasonable, but they too rejected the claims once they found out how big the problem was. I eventually spent 16 hours of my own time and over $800 dollars to get to the root cause and fix the issues.

    Hi ******,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I wanted to make sure I was fully understanding the customer's complaint.  It did look like we broke a sprinkler pipe and a sprinkler wire while working on Mr. ****** project.  As stated in the contract that he signed we are not responsible for any sprinkler lines or electrical lines.  If the customer had marked the lines or told us about the lines and we broke them we could have taken complete responsibility for them because we would have felt that the customer notified us of potential obstructions.  Unfortunately, that did not happen in this case.  As a show of good faith, we did send people over to repair the broken line and wire.  In the end, the customer had a company come out after us and do some work that I dont know if had anything to do with the work that we did or not but the bill that he sent us was for $157.00, not the $800.00 that he is asking for.  In another show of good faith, we sent the customer a check for $85.00 to cover half of the invoice.  Attached is a copy of the invoice from the customers contractor, a Credit memo reflecting the $85.00, and a copy of the back of our contract showing our release of liability.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
