Note this is about the Santa Maria location.
The billing practices of this office or predatory. I had a credit on my account from work they had done that they'd over collected payment on (which is fine). But then when I went in for a cleaning they charged me for the fluoride (which they warned me about before I consented to it). When I checked out, they said the credit balance I had would cover the visit.
Later, they sent me a statement saying that I owed them $0.20 (that's 20 cents) because my credit of $31.80 covered the $27 for fluoride and there was a copay of $5 from my insurance that they didn't tell me about when I was there (they had my insurance already). Then after a month, they added a $10 finance charge. I told them that was absurd and that I'd be fine paying the $0.20 when I was in next and to please remove the $10. They said it could not be removed.
I've dropped them as a dentist and am reporting here about their ridiculous billing practices.

We are not able to do treatment without a patient's consent. Insurance co-payments are set by a patient's insurance carrier. There is no predatory billing practices here for a $30 balance for copayments that were set by this patient's insurance company. Any treatment costs are estimates based on the information provided to us by a carrier and the insurance carrier also provides copayment information directly to their subscribers. Finance charges are only applied after a balance is unpaid after 30 days and is outlined in our financial policies that patients sign upon becoming a patient in our practice. We are sorry to hear about their patient's experience but there was not an ill intent on our part or predatory practices at pay. This was simply a copayment owed for services the patient had rendered in our office.

This business said I needed multiple procedures done before they would do a cleaning. After visiting another dentist regarding these so called “needed” procedures I was told that none of these needed to be done. They also misled me about complimentary x-rays and tried charging me for them. They managed to get insurance to pay for an examination and are trying to get me to now pay for these x-rays. It seems to be a bit of a scam. They require all these things to be done before a cleaning. Avoid like the plague would be my advice. Quite unethical and unwilling to even address the complimentary x-ray promise. I have contacted the insurance company who noted the matter. Just so sad that this is the kind of health/dental care we have to endure in this country. On top of paying top dollar for the best insurance they still find ways to scam everyone. I guess it’s one dentist’s opinion over the other right? If it walks and quacks like a duck………

We are very sad to see the false and slanderous information posted here Mr. T*****. We did everything we could to help you, including responding to all of the complaints posted here. Our providers would never recommend treatment that was not necessary and it is very worrisome that you are being told otherwise as we have the facts from your records to show the reason for your needed treatment should your new provider like to review them with us. We wish you luck in your new office.
