    I hired Hippo Hime inspection to inspect my the home I was in process to purchase. The inspection did not disclose any issues with the water heater; I finally moved in my new home on 1/30/23 and I found the water heater completely damaged and a heavy amount of corrosion; the inspector said he did not see the damage but as you see the picture you can tell the damage is old. Now I have to buy a water heater ; my 79 year old mother and I have not been able to take a hot shower and it's winter time, temperaturas in the high 40s, low 50s. Terrible job , they ripped me off.

    We were notified by the customer 3 months after the home inspection was performed that she has no hot water and the water heater has corrosion. We immediately replied that while we were sorry to hear about this problem, at the time of inspection there was hot water and no visible leaking. We have no way of telling if a hot water heater has corrosion or the life expectancy remaining. Our service is to inspect the unit for working condition, report any leaks, and check for the safety requirements. At the time of our inspection all these areas were confirmed satisfactory. As we are not a home warranty company, we are not responsible for failing equipment after inspection is complete, and certainly not months later, after use. Once again, we are sympathetic to her problem, however at the time of inspection, the water heater was in working order.
