On 8/2/24 at approximately 11am my daughter was in a car accident on the corner of Bradley and Stowell. I was 6 hours away. I immediately opened a claim with Allstate and gave her the agent name and phone number and the claim number. I told her to ask to have the car towed to a collision center. I was on the phone and she told them. She told them she had a claim number. They said she had to pay them $400 for the tow. I had her tell them we had AAA towing as secondary and it’s covered. The driver said no and towed it to the shop. The next day I went to the tow yard and got her meds/property from the car. The tow company took my info and copies my DL. I asked Allstate to send out an adjuster. They said they couldn’t, so Four Corners Towing had us write a letter to release the car to AllState. I did so. The same day they asked for this letter and confirmed its receipt, they put a lien on her car for “towing and storage”. I got that letter in the mail 8/12/24. I have turned it over to Allstate and our accident attorney to handle. I feel it is wrong to refuse a tow to a collision center and take the car to your lot to charge a storage fee. You took advantage of a 16 year old with me, the registered owner, on the phone listening. You falsely filed a lien vs billing appropriately when you had the information for billing. You have created unnecessary stress and anxiety for my 16 year old.
