I had a terrible experience with this gym. I signed up for what was advertised as a 'no commitment' one-month membership at Crunch. Unfortunately, I was hospitalized with rhabdomyolysis and needed to cancel my membership. When I called to cancel, I was instructed to send an email, which I did. I even received confirmation that my cancellation was approved.
Despite this, money was still withdrawn from my account. When I called to address the issue, I was told there was actually a '2-month commitment,' which was never mentioned when I signed up. I asked to speak with a manager, and the person on the phone said, 'Managers are here, but they can't speak right now. They'll call you back.' Unsurprisingly, I never received a call.
This experience was deeply frustrating and felt misleading. I was upfront about my circumstances, but the lack of transparency and poor customer service made things worse. I would not recommend this gym to anyone.
In addition, they are still charging me.Initial Complaint

2 altercations. The second ended my membership. 1. On 2/19/24 around 12pm I was exiting the gym with my yoga Matt that I walked in with and the managers (A** and A****** insisted that I was stealing it. I said they were crazy bc I walked in with it and they said they even checked the cameras and I was stealing they also threatened to cancel my membership. I said “ARE YOU KIDDING ME” At the point I’m pissed off. I don’t appreciate being called a thief and a liar. I said OK let’s see the camera footage I want to see what you are looking at. At this point, they basically dropped it and let me go. Like WTF!? I just want to bring awareness to the altercation with these managers and I would like my next month membership waived as remedy to this humiliation and deliberate harassment… even inspecting my yoga Matt it looks way different then all crunch yoga Matt’s across the state. Mine is thick foam. All crunch Matt’s are super thin. And they still were adamant(shaking my head)
Altercation #2 in their stretching room. (Mirror room, Zumba class room) they have another small section behind a wall not closed off where there is gym equipment and space. I go back there to stretch because sometimes the whole main room is occupied by a Zumba class. The same manager that threatened to cancel my membership for some bullshit cancels my membership for going back there. He says it’s an employee only area. But there is gym equipment that I pay to have access too and it’s not closed off, and there is no sign that says employee only. I just want to have a space to stretch when the whole room is occupied. So he canceled my membership around June 2024. I just want my member ship reinstated and I want a in person apology by the managers for harassing me for no reason I’m obviously being targeted. If the managers liked me they wouldn’t say a thing about anything. Is this discrimination/prejudice?Business Response

Was sent a text around December of 2023 saying that my payment didn't process due to myself getting a new card and was unable to get to the business for a few months to talk to them about it. My card account, that pays for my brother's account who has not been going to the gym and has told me that he doesn't want the membership anymore, got charged $130.96 on February 12th of 2024 to pay for late fees and was told to email them about the cancellation of the account since they kept charging a non-existent card after receiving a new payment method after initial $130.96 charge. Later got a new text telling me the account didn't get paid for so I sent an email to the manager email that the manager themselves said to send it to on March of 29th like they said to do and a follow up email on April 1st in case they didn't get the email. Didn't get an email back until April 3rd telling me about a cancellation fee that comes with cancelling early so I emailed back the same day to ask if I can pay the cancellation fee and get the membership cancelled and got a response on April 5th that I could. I sent a response a week later on April 12th to say that I would like to continue with the cancellation payment process and sent a follow up email on April 21st because of no response then got a email back on April 22nd saying I couldn't cancel it anymore because they randomly called my brother to ask if he requested a cancellation of the account but due to it being more than a few months since him and I have had the conversation of cancelling the account he did not know that the case of closing it was still going on. I then proceeded to send them a screenshot of a conversation of my brother Moises wanting to proceed with the cancellation of the membership and they have yet to respond to that email. He then proceeded to email the business about cancellation of the account and hasn't gotten a response since initial email of May 12th and follow up email of June 4th.Initial Complaint

On November 7, 2022, I went to the reception desk at Crunch Fitness located at *** **** ****** ****, Santa Maria, CA 93454 and informed them I wanted to cancel my membership and the receptionist handed me a note with an email address to contact to cancel my membership.
I emailed [email protected] with my contact information and reason for canceling. I received a phone call on November 15, 2022, to confirm that I wanted to proceed with cancellation and I agreed. They followed up with an email stating “Per our phone conversation this afternoon your agreement is cancelled.” After checking my bank statements, I noticed that they were still charging me a monthly fee. I contacted Crunch on April 23, 2023, via phone to request a refund for the charges I did not authorize. Heather from Crunch told me that I would receive a refund to my bank account in 12-15 business days. Thirty days went by, and I still did not see a credit in my account. I called again on May 24, 2023, and spoke with Heather again and she reassured me that I would get my credit. At that point, I disputed the charges with my bank and they are now in contact with Crunch who is now stating they had my authorization to charge my account even though I have proof that they canceled my membership and they have been consistently telling me that I will be receiving a refund. I have since kept trying to contact Crunch and they keep hanging up on me, Heather denies ever speaking to me. I would like them to refund me the six months of charges with a total of $75.30 to the same account they have been charging.Business Response
