This company bought out our last propane company, which was Kern River Propane. We never had a problem with Kern River Propane, but Western Propane is another story.
Western Propane no longer honors customers month-to-month fill contracts, and they never let customers know that they were changing this. (We also didn’t find out that Western Propane took over until we received a bill from them, and I thought it was a scam).
This company now only comes out when the customer’s propane tank is at 20%. This is a really big hit for customers. A 320 gallon tank that is at 20% will cost $982 to fill. How is this fair? I was told over the phone when I called that they were trying to save money on gas for their trucks. I’m pretty sure that the customer should be the top priority.
This company is horrible, and their customer service is the worst I’ve ever had to deal with.
This company should not even be in business. I know I can’t afford an almost $1000 propane bill. This is beyond ridiculous and not customer oriented at all!

Good Afternoon K****. Let me start by saying that we do not hold delivery contracts with our customers. When Kern River was purchased back in November a letter went out to every customer letting them know of the change and presenting all of our contact information to help alleviate the transitions between the two companies. Our company policy is to fill our tanks between 20-30% in order to keep a balance of delivery efficiencies along with keeping enough propane in the tank where the customer will not run out. We understand a very large propane bill intermittently is overwhelming, that is in fact why we offer our budget program for all our customers. It takes your annual usage and works it into a more manageable monthly payment. This specific program is designed to help with these type of situations. In terms of delivery efficiencies it costs us $150 minimum to make each stop. Your annual usage will be the same whether we deliver monthly or three times a year. To better run our business it makes more sense to come out to you less often and offer a program where you can make the same monthly payments. We pride ourselves on customer service and the budget program is the prime example of this. At the end of the day we need to run our business efficiently but trying to say we don't take care of our customers is not a fair statement.
