I purchased two strands of carved quartz stone beads from The Bead Chest. The listing claimed each strand would have about 19 beads, sized between 1521mm wide. It also stated that some beads might be larger than the size range. However, many beads I received were smaller, and the strands included small spacer beads that reduced the number of quartz beads to 36 total, not 38. The listing did not make clear that these spacers would reduce the usable material. When I called the company, the representative was understanding and implied it would be no problem to send a few extra beads so I could finish my necklace. But after I sent photos to show the size issues, my case was handed to a different **** *****, who was dismissive and unhelpful. She suggested I just take a $17 gift card and call it a day.I agreed to the gift card just to move onbut it was not sent. After waiting, I emailed to request a return instead. Only then did the company send the gift card, followed by a message implying I had already received it and saying I guess you werent *********, they are demanding I return no fewer than 37 quartz beads, even though they only sent 36. Theyre also requiring that I restring the beads into two strands with a finishing wrapa term not mentioned in the listing or return policy. These are new requirements added after the sale, complicating the return process. The company also claims that cutting the beads voids the return. Yet the product is advertised as suited for jewelry-making, which obviously requires separating beads. They even asked for photos that would require cutting the strand, then denied the return for doing exactly that. What began as a reasonable conversation turned into accusatory emails and shifting policies. I feel the company misrepresented the product and then treated me unfairly for trying to address the issue.I am requesting a full refund, due to product misrepresentation, inconsistent return conditions, and unprofessional.
