Initially ****************** at the Go Divorce Clinic let us to believe that it would be $4400 to do the paperwork, including the ****, and the interspousal transfer agreement. Most of the paperwork, well, all of the paperwork that weve received has had errors that appear that they didnt even proofread their own work. I cant tell you how many times hes had to resubmit the initial divorce paperwork. Our primary concern was the ***** which he said was no problem. Then we find out its more money. Then we decide to pay the more money because Were kind of in a spot and just want to get it done. Now he says he cant do it the way he said the way we initially wanted it done. Hes extremely rude and condescending on the phone. **** prefers to talk to you on the phone. I believe this is an unethical business practice.

      Business Response

      Date: 01/19/2023

I will address each issue the individual addresses in her complaint:

1). The cost:  Our contract, which I am happy to provide as a supporting document, clearly states that the fee paid of $4,400.00 includes only the specific documents that are detailed to conduct an uncontested divorce.  Any forms required for this are clearly listed on the contract.  ****s and Interspousal Transfer deeds are not listed as documents that are to be drafted.  Those documents we are willing to do as a service to our clients for an extra fee, as they are not required to procure a judgment of divorce or legal separation.
      2) All documents have been completed and submitted to the clients for review.  If there were any typos or related errors that were brought to our attention, they were immediately corrected and resubmitted to the clients for their approval.  I have emails showing how many times this actually occurred and how promptly those errors were fixed.
      3) The **** drafted is in proper form.  This individual believes that a qualified domestic relations order can establish whether or not she gets survivor benefits, and appears angry that I do not change the order to attempt to have it function that way.  The order was drafted by an attorney outside our office to insure that it is in proper form; I did so in this case as because this individual has reacted with consistent unwarranted suspicion throughout the process. I am not sure what elections she made with her husband regarding the retirement benefits, but if she signed away her survivor benefits, that was her choice to do so. We had nothing to do with that, nor do we ever become involved with those choices.  They are made outside our office, in private and with the agencies that are responsible for handling them.
      4) This individual did not respond coherently to many emails that were sent to her. Therefore communication was not productive with her when it needed to be on several occasions. I attempted to clarify directly with her on the phone. On several of those occasions she made personal accusations about my character that were completely unfounded. I asked to her to please refrain from this kind of digression and personal attack or I would not be able to help her. I found it necessary to set a boundary with her, and she took that as me being rude it appears.
      5) Most all these facts I have stated can be corroborated by supporting documents, emails, and eye witness testimony who were present during most every discussion I had with her.
      6)  Perhaps most importantly, nothing in this case has been resolved. She has refused to sign any document other than the contract, so there is no judgment on the matter with the court. I literally cannot continue helping this couple because she refuses to sign any documents.Nothing I have drafted has created any kind of permanent order. No damage can be claimed. I have performed as contracted, well beyond even, trying to process this case for 7 months when my average case is about 12 weeks, at no extra cost. There is nothing further I can do for her until she either gets someone she trusts to explain to her what she is looking at, or trusts the process we entered into through our contract.
