I have rented 2 storage lockers at 500 Olive Street Storage and been a loyal paying customer for the past 12 years. In January 2022 the lift that provides access to the 2nd floor where my lockers are located, broke. It was a blow as Covid restrictions where just beginning to lift and I was eager to get back to selling and making some money again. I was patient and continued to pay rent on the promise that it would soon be fixed. After 3 months I began to loose faith with all the excuses. The landlord then agreed to charge me rent on just one of my 2 unit's, (so half price). Even though I was still paying for a unit that I cannot move things in and out of it seemed fair. The stairs would be dangerous for anyone to move heavy cumbersome boxes down even if the person was able bodied. I have had recent major ankle surgery and am a 60 year old man. After a couple of months of this situation the landlord then declared. I can't do this anymore and gave the ultimatum to "Pay rent or move out". Which makes no sense because I cannot move out without the lift working to move my stuff out. So my stuff cannot be moved out because of their faulty equipment and is sort of being held hostage with me being expected to pay the rent on it. All of this seems unnecessary if they would just fix the lift so that everybody has access to their lockers and we can get back to the blissful arrangement we had in the first place. Please help me with this crazy situation. They also had an issue with the main security gate to the premises being broken and jammed open for over 30 days and everybody's belonging being left open for anyone to walk in with a pair of bolt cutters and help themselves 24 hours. But thankfully this has been resolved. I frankly believe this operator needs a good kick in the pants. Situation with the lift is STILL ongoing as of 08/09/22.A ************************* of Bay ************************* agreed I was due compensation, but has since ignored my emails and calls. Please help.
