This company sent me a fishy letter in the mail which I received yesterday. Apparently they are representing AT&T. Back story- this past August, AT&T came out to fix a split wire. The guy never said anything about a charge/fee or any bill I would get. Not once was a charge disclosed, I never received a phone call just this letter that I am owing them $681.02. I called both AT&T and this company. AT&T had no info on this and S,G,& D has not called me back on the matter. This entire situation has been handled poorly. The letter has also been port typed out. Couldn’t even get my name right.

    Business Response

Our firm is a vendor to AT&T working to collect recovery for damage to facilities owned by AT&T. It appears that the complaint B****** ****** filed should have been made against AT&T and not SGD as it is not our office who is billing Brandon Chitty, it is AT&T for the damage he negligently caused.

Back in August of this year AT&T’s underground cable was cut when B****** ****** was working in his yard. Mr. Chitty is aware of and was present when AT&T technicians were making their repairs. According to AT&T, B****** ****** failed to call 811 to have the underground service marked prior to doing any digging and damaged an underground cable.

AT&T finalized this claim on 10/11/2022 (as seen on the top left corner of AT&T invoice) and the invoices for repair was mailed to B****** ****** that same day.

AT&T then sent the claim to our office for further handling. On November 09, 2022, we sent B****** ****** our standard letter informing him that our office has now taken over the handling of this claim and to contact our office with any questions. We also provided another copy of AT&T’s claim for damage in case he didn’t receive the initial one from AT&T.

We understand that Mr. Chitty feels he doesn’t owe this amount ($681.02). However, the damage B****** ****** caused could have been prevented if he had contacted 811 and had the underground facilities marked accordingly before digging began.

If B****** ****** would like to contact our office, we can work out a settlement for the benefit of both him and AT&T.

    Respectfully,

    SCHIFRIN, GAGNON & DICKEY
