I had scheduled an appointment in early June 2023 to get a tooth evaluated for a root canal. Upon arrival, I was asked to fill out a new patient form, which is understandable. However, I left the *** field blank as I am cautious about sharing my *** when it's unnecessary. Unfortunately, *******, the front desk person, insisted that I provide my full ***, claiming it was the only way they could bill the insurance. I informed her that this wasn't true, but given her hostile tone, I decided not to argue and asked about alternative options. She mentioned that presenting my insurance card would be an acceptable alternative, and we rescheduled the appointment for two weeks later. Today, the day before my appointment, I called to confirm the time. To my disbelief, ******* answered and said, "We haven't received your *** yet, so we can't see you until you send it over." Did she conveniently forget that she agreed to the insurance card as an alternative to using my ***? Furthermore, she flat out lied by claiming that the insurance ID card would be insufficient without the full ***.I questioned the legality of such a requirement to be seen by the doctor, but instead of addressing my concern, ******* abruptly told me to go see another doctor and hung up on me! Outraged, I immediately contacted my insurance company, and they clarified that providing the last four digits of the *** should be sufficient, not the full ***.This entire experience has left me shocked and appalled. The unprofessional behavior of ******* and the contradictory information I received regarding the *** requirement are simply unacceptable.
