    This business is a type of cannabis dispensary. I have never been inside one of these stores before this was my first time. I went to go buy some gummy‘s for my wife to help her sleep at night, and the salesman was very helpful in finding me just that product. He then talk to me about getting some liquid drops, but my wife would have to measure out each application. When I got home, she told she did not want that product. She wanted just the gummy’s and I went to go return or exchange the liquid two days after the purchase and I was told that no refunds or returns are allowed. There were no signs that said sales are final that I saw, and the salesman knew it was my first time and didn’t make any mention of no returns. I would not have bought the product that I know, and I could not return it or exchange it.
    The item was purchased on May 10 of 2023 and the attempted return or exchange was just two days later.

    I appreciate Mr. M*****’s frustration and his response. In addition to his complaint to the BBB he posted basically the same information on Yelp to which we responded.  It is unfortunate that Mr. M*****’s first venture into the cannabis realm was not a positive one. 


    In short, the cannabis industry is regulated by the State of California and while we are a retail business the product we sell is uniquely different than any other retail product including alcohol, which is regulated but not considered a controlled substance which cannabis is. The legal product we sell is tracked and traced by the State and once sold the tracking ends.  Once the product is in the consumers control the integrity of the product cannot be guaranteed or reentered into the track and trace system to be resold. In addition, we can only sell product to adults who are physically present, are 21+ with proper ID which Mr. M***** presented.  


    While it is understandable that Mr. M***** is unaware of the restrictions a cannabis business must operate under as he has no previous experience, it is regrettable that our Staff did not take the extra step in explaining the laws of the sale of cannabis goods.  In the response to his Yelp review, he was asked to return to the store to see if there was something we may be able to do. There are some remedies that we can do but there is no circumstance that we can either exchange or refund the product. 


    I appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint through the BBB. It is with this interaction that the customer and the BBB gain a better understanding of the legal cannabis business and an appreciation for the difference and restrictions applied to it. Learning opportunities often happen when there is a difficulty and we welcome Mr. M***** to bring his wife into the store where we can provide a general education on all things cannabis from the science to the law.
