We contacted Tahoe Mobile Mechanic (****) regarding persistent battery problems with our van. Despite **** working on the van and assuring us that it was fixed, the battery died again just a few days later. **** is now demanding payment before he will return to address the issue. We categorically refuse to make any payments until the van is properly fixed. We have no objection to paying once the repair is satisfactorily completed, but as of now, the initial issue remains unresolved.Furthermore, **** has been unresponsive to our repeated phone calls and text messages requesting him to rectify the situation. His continued avoidance is unacceptable and unprofessional. We expect immediate action to resolve this matter.

    Business Response

    Date: 07/24/2024

This customer is a *********** girl( ***************************) illegally running a dog training business out of a residential home daddy ( ***********************) bought in Tahoe. She texted me in a conversation with her father to set up the appointment.

We first responded to this customer on 5/14/24. When we arrived, we found the vehicle battery to be dead. We told the customer we would leave our charger on the battery to see if it could be saved. Customer was told there was no guarantee the battery would charge and if it charged there was no knowing how long it would hold this charge. Customer was told to let us know when the green light on the charger came on showing the battery is charged. Customer as nice as could be says ok I understand.

Second time we arrived (5/16/24) to this customer the battery had been fully charged. Vehicle still would not start. We diagnosed this to be due to a hard to access and replace blown fuse. We visually inspected the circuit wiring for damage and found none. At this point the fuse had to be ordered for the vehicle. Customer was told the fuse would be replaced when it arrived. Customer was told fuse could blow again and if it did further troubleshooting of the wiring would be necessary, but there was no point diagnosing the wiring further unless the fuse blew again. We performed a parasitic draw test very quickly on this appointment to see the customers only parasitic draw was from a switch for lights in the rear of the van. Customer was told NOT to hook these lights up to the van motor battery, but a separate accessory battery. ******** said a replacement was on the way for the switch and so we disconnected it for the time being.

Third time we showed up (5/21/24), we installed the fuse for the customer, started the vehicle and everything was good. Customer then requested us to install the new light switch to replace the one giving the parasitic draw and hook it back up to the vehicle battery.  When installing the switch we told the customer the new switch seemed faulty as well. Customer said, " well it seems better than the other one, lets just try it out." When we left we said the vehicle is good for now let us know if you have any more trouble.

Customer didn't pay bill when it was sent to them. Over a week after we completed the repair they still hadn't paid. They say the van won't start and they demand we immediately come and fix it. We told them we would be happy to help them out more one they pay their past due bill for the work already done. They said we did that work wrong and they refused to pay until we came back and fixed it. We said no more appointments until you pay for work already done. They eventually said we could pick up a check. When we went to pick up the check, nobody was home and no check to be found. We have called and left the customer a voicemail and they have not responded. We are now in the legal process of filing a mechanics lean on the customer. We didn't do anything wrong on this customers job. They just simply needed to pay for more work, which was explained to the father and daughter. We have tried to communicate this to them in every way we can think of they still insist on holding us to blame for their vehicles issues.

    Best Regards,
