    This company is approved by the California Earthquake Brace + Bolt program but they refused to give me a retrofit quote pending other unrelated work I had to do on my foundation. Having now had that work 90 percent completed, it's not up to code and they have flagged other issues that leave me unable to use my garage safely. They billed us separately for engineering, exceeding the State limit on deposit amounts by collecting it all up front. Then we found out from their engineer that he did not know what kind of structure he was designing for. After it came to the owner's attention that we had contacted the engineer based on confusion over the plans to repair an area under our garage, the engineer stopped communicating with us but not before he reviewed photos and confirmed that much of the work was not up to code. They told us that LA County would take a long time to process permits, that permits would add to the cost and that we could end up with many other issues flagged but promised to do the work to code. The plan was to do what needed to be fixed based on our home inspections, prior engineering reports and the like so that we could participate in the California seismic retrofit of our house. We were notified that we were up for eligibility based on the State zip code lottery for a *****, but the ***** expired with no quote provided for the service. Now that we have had another engineer out to our house and confirmed what this company's own hand picked engineer confirmed about the work not being to code, we know why they did not provide the retrofit quote. When we began to ask that the work be corrected the owner, *****, threatened to slap a lien on us, stating that his workers had done extra work. But that work wasn't in the contract and what was in the contract wasn't done correctly. My spouse has some health issues (over 60) and we feel taken advantage of. Almost $20,000 gone and we don't have money to fix what he refused to correct.
