Specialized Shipping Services (SSS) contracted with me to pick up some items from an auction located in *****, **, pack those items, and ship them to me in ************, **. SSS advertises their services as handling all of the logistics from pickup, to packing/crating and arranging shipping. I paid SSS $1743.00 to handle the logistics for shipping the items I had purchased. *********** from *** informed me when the shipment was shipped (through T-Force Freight), and that he had included about $10,000 of insurance for the shipment. When the items arrived here in ************, one of the pallets was completely destroyed. The sensitive electronic equipment had been simply set loose on a pallet, covered with a blanket, and then two ratchet straps were used to awkwardly hold the packing blanket in place. T-Force had apparently caused some sort of impact to the pallet that caused one end of the pallet to buckle. Since the ratchet straps were strapped around that end of the pallet, whatever tension was holding things in place was lost. All of the expensive items were smashed into each other.T-Force is liable for the damage they caused, but this pallet in particular was not packed the way it should have been. Each item should have been individually packed to protect it from the other items.SSS filed a claim with T-Force, and SSS wants me to be happy with T-Force's resolution. However, my contract is not with *******. The total amount of damage equals $2378.00 + the $505 that I paid SSS to prepare that particular pallet. I want SSS to reimburse me for that damage. Then, SSS can pursue T-Force for whatever liability they can. If SSS actually included insurance for $10,000, then they should be able to collect the damages. That should not be my problem.
