    Business Response

    Date: 12/19/2023

Dear Better Business Bureau and Concerned Parties,

I am writing in response to a complaint filed by a former client, regarding our services at Melleka Marketing. We take all feedback seriously and appreciate the opportunity to address this matter.

    Client Interaction and Office Hours:
We acknowledge the client's dissatisfaction regarding a specific incident where he requested an additional task to be completed outside of our office hours.

Specifically, the client became irate because we sent him an email Friday morning letting him know we had completed all of the tasks he had asked from us. He wanted us to complete one more task but the team was not in office to do it; however,  because our 3rd party receptionist answered (who is specifically hired to answer calls when we are not in the office), he became confused and assumed we were lying to him. He became incredibly angry, calling myself and my team liars and began to threaten us.

Completion of Website and Marketing Services:
The client contracted Melleka Marketing for website development and ongoing marketing services, including *** and ******** ad management. Melleka Marketing is a month-to-month marketing agency that offers up to 12 hours a month of work; we do not lock you into any contracts so that clients may cancel at any time. We completed the website within four months of the project initiation, adhering to the agreed-upon specifications. Any subsequent requests for changes to the website, made months after the initial completion, were beyond the scope of our original agreement. However, it should be noted that although they were beyond the scope of our original agreement, we continued to comply with his requests, until he became belligerent and combative.

Regarding the *** and ******** ad management, our records indicate consistent and timely management of these services.

We strive to ensure all client needs are met within the bounds of our agreed terms.

A copy of these reports can be provided upon request by emailing the contact information listed on our website.*

In fact, over our ten months of working together, the client requested over ***** tasks, totaling nearly 117 hours per month. That is 105 hours OVER the cap we have for our clients.
This is 105 hours PER MONTH of free work we were giving him, which empowered him to become increasingly demanding, as if he had ownership over our time and resources. Indeed, our main fault was obliging to him for so long at such a steep cost to our company.

    Service Termination:
Melleka Marketing operates on a month-to-month basis, offering clients the flexibility to discontinue services at their discretion. This policy also extends to our right to terminate services in certain circumstances. The decision to cease services with the client was not taken lightly. It was a result of ongoing challenges with the client. Specifically, the client become belligerent, going up to the point of attempting to blackmail the company and threaten our receptionist and team members. This of course is unacceptable, and so we decided to end the relationship.

Pictures of the email correspondence showing the level of violence can also be provided upon request.

Additionally, it's important to highlight that upon concluding our services, we ensured a smooth transition for the client. We provided a comprehensive final email, which included links to all deliverables, along with necessary usernames, passwords, and documentation. This was done to facilitate an easy handover to him or any subsequent marketing agency, ensuring continuity and no disruption in his marketing activities.

A screenshot of this email can be provided upon request.

    Threatening Behavior:
We maintain a strict policy against any form of violence or harassment, either from or towards our clients. We especially do not tolerate threats, attempts of blackmail, or belittling or tyring to force our employees to bend to a persons fury. We are prepared to provide any necessary documentation, including email and text exchanges, to clarify the nature of our interactions with the client.
We are confident we have acted in good faith and within the parameters of our service agreement.

To reiterate, Melleka Marketing is a month-to-month company, which means that had he been dissatisfied with our work, he could have canceled services any time. Instead, he become more and more demanding.

This BBB complaint is a final act of desperation after becoming furious with his inability to get us to comply to his demands after we had been complying for so long. We were more than happy to go above and beyond for him (as we mentioned, we did 105 hours more of free work every month for him than we were supposed to), but the line was drawn when he insulted us, threatened, and tried to blackmail us with this BBB complaint.

Again, screenshots of these conversations can be provided upon request.

We are committed to providing high-quality marketing services and maintaining professional standards in all client interactions.

Should you require any further information or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at the business number listed on our website.

    Sincerely,
    Anthony Melleka
    CEO
    Melleka Marketing
