Statement to the Better Business Bureau

Subject: Misrepresentation of Pricing and Unethical Practices at 4J Jewelers

On December 1, 2024, at 4:18 PM, I visited 4J Jewelers and selected lab-grown diamond earrings priced at $1,000, as stated by the representative. I agreed to pay $350 as a down payment and finance the rest. I was told to send $10 to my Wells Fargo account (which I usually keep at $0) to proceed with credit approval.

At no point was I informed the final cost would be $2,027.50. After signing the contract, paying the $10 fee and $350 down, I was told the total during packaging. When I clarified, expecting to owe $600 in 3 months, I was told I owed $1,677—entirely inconsistent with the $1,000 price discussed, causing confusion and distress.

When I called on my way home to return the earrings, I was told returns were not allowed but I could exchange them for an item of equal value. This lack of transparency and restrictive policy feels deceptive and manipulative, violating consumer protection laws.

I request the original price of $1,000 be honored, with financing adjusted accordingly. Since I have already paid 360$, I want to only have to pay (640$) like originally discussed and agreed upon during transaction in store upon with the earrings priced and sold to me by the representative at a verbal price of 1000$. If unresolved, I may pursue legal action and request thee court requests the video footage of my experience inside of 4J Jewelers at the Ventura County Pacific View Mall. Please resolve this matter and negotiate a final payment $640

The customer was explained everything about the transaction. The finance company also sent him a contract through his email, which he read and signed, which showed his payments and how much he would be paying. He also signed the store receipt showing the total amount he will be paying. If the customer is unhappy and not satisfied with his purchase I will allow him to return his purchase within 48 hours of this email.
