When I received the wheelchair and the person who worked on the wheelchair stated the wheelchair is working fine with the service that was done to the wheelchair.I brought the wheelchair and took it for a ride and the wheelchair stalled and wasnt able to move. I called back American wheelchair company and stated the wheelchair stalled and if I was riding on the wheelchair while crossing a busy crosswalk when the light turned red to stop traffic then turned green again the traffic would move and it would put me in a bad position. The technician came back and changed a cable and charged me for the cable and service again. I went to take the wheelchair for another ride and the wheelchair stalled again. I called the wheelchair company and they said theyre not responsible. Business Response

    Date: 04/19/2024

On 12/19/23 we got a call from a gentleman named ********************************* and he wanted us to pick up a powerchair that is around ten years old, used, and not in working condition from our customer named ***************************. ******* recommended this chair to *************** and told him to get this free chair from ***** and do some work on it to get it up and running. We serviced the chair by checking the batteries initially and they were completely dead due to the fact that the chair had been sitting for quite some time. We asked **************** if he would like us to change the batteries because without the batteries there is no way to get the chair to even have power and turn on and without having the chair turn on, we cannot run other tests on the chair. We told **************** this information and he agreed to get them replaced. That was the charge on 1/9/24 for the batteries. The first service charge on the receipt was for us to pick up the chair from ************************* house and bring it to our store to do work on it. The second service charge was for us to deliver the chair back to ****************. ********************** let us know and let **************** know that when he would receive this chair from *********************, there would be no charger so he would have to purchase one. He agreed to that as well and that is what the charge is for $185.99. We tested the chair and made sure it was in running condition before returning it to ****************. A few weeks later he called us and was upset that the chair isn't running properly and he had spent $724.31 and it was our responsibility to get it working again. We explained to **************** that he had got a free chair that is ten years old and we will do our best to get it running but the products we gave him were not faulty and we could not give him a refund due to the fact that the chair wouldn't run at all without the products we provided for him. We let him know that we would come out to his house and check to see what else was the problem. Our technician went to check the chair and found that the cable connecting to the batteries was rusted and old so we replaced the cable with a new one. My technician let **************** know before he left that this could happen again because the connection to the batteries and the wire were also rusted. That was not something that could not be fixed because we do not have those specific parts for that chair since it's a much older chair. **************** was upset that he spent that amount of money on a chair that could be faulty. We did our best to explain to **************** that older chairs will have problems like this and that was probably the reason Mrs. ********* was no longer using the chair. We also tried our best to explain to him that the items he had bought from us were not the problem to the issues to the chair but the old chair itself.
