Contracted contractor for a kitchen hood installation plus plumbing and make up air . Signed Nov 15,2022 and I paid a retainer of $5,000 .Quoted for $18,000 but might be lower since I did engineering and plans and drawings. Contractor stated he was license and promised to have kitchen done in 2 weeks after paying retainer . After 3 weeks he did zero work in my building after paying the retainer and I had to call him to come and work since he promised the job will be done by certain day. He told me there was an issue and I had to pay out of pocket a total of $15,000 for a grease trap installation, and make up air he wasnt even getting started but he told me I had to pay that or he couldnt go on with project. He then charged me $2,300 for another out of pocket expense for steel bars. A month went by and contractor still has not finished . 2 months has passed and he has not finished and is ignoring my calls I looked him up with licenses board and he isnt licensed as a contractor. All the job he did was not done up to code and building department inspected and it did not pass code, which lend me to have to correct them and pay extra to fix all his mistakes , I have lost 2 months work of business because of this company , and has caused lots of emotional distress and financial issues.

At no time did I portray that I was a licensed contractor, we are a steel manufacturing company and we explained to her the process of an owner build and the permit was pulled by the owner. She hired ** as a subcontractor to manufacture a stainless steel kitchen set up and install it with another licensed contractor. We project managed the job with the appropriate licensed contractor for installation. She declined engineering with a licensed engineer and said she did it herself but she is not an engineer. She was made fully aware of the price and agreed to it and signed a contract for the cost of the stainless steel. She understood the time frame when we told her about ordering parts that were taking longer to arrive. When we had to do change orders the time frame shifted. She was informed. She was happy with the project and told ** in text messages how good it looked and how happy she was with the project and then at the end of the project she rushed it for inspections before it was ready before a part arrived to install and failed her inspection and went online complaining and slandering my business online. Contracts, parts and labor bills and before and after pictures are available and a judge reviewed these items and there was no case in her favor, it was thrown out. She continues to slander my business.
      Thank you
